2nd series 55's and newer had open drive shafts. All GMC crankshaft flanges were flywheel/flexplate specific. The 6 holes are not equidistant from each other. They fit only one way.

My '48 Pontiac is open drive, which i am a big fan of strictly for ease of axle swaps.

Can someone tell me if the torus is the same between gen 1 and gen 2 hydramatics? Im not talking dual couplings.

I don't know if this helps but I do know a Hudson torus is the same as a V8 Chevy.

I have a Hudson hydramatic in unknown condition but should be considered a core. I also have a GMC hydramatic with a Hudson tailshaft installed, and I *think* it was rebuilt. Not sure what all I have in the way of bellhousings, toruses etc. except I have a welded up torus (hot rod modification) that I think is new. Shipping would be a bear, though.

Several years ago a friend of mine had a US army Duece and a half. I'm sure it had a 302 Jimmy with a hydro... Am I mistaken?
