That road was very familiar during 1967. It was central to the big time, flower child, love, rock and roll era in Hollywood. That is a Borgward coupe.

A neighbor had one and it was considered an upscale VW Karman Ghia. It was somewhat unusual looking and had to be a big sporty car guy/girl to like one.

 

I'd want the road to lead me to an Auburn speedster or supercharged Cord cabriolet (Sportsman). Ok, lets shoot higher. I'll bet I coulda shagged a custom Dietrich Packard or even a Duesenberg for a couple grand.

 

Thanks for that video, but thats just not fair. I love them all. For anyone who doesn't want to go back can I borrow your 2 grand. I promise I'll pay you back, say in 52 years

 

I'd be a middy's kind of guy. Tail end of 50's .... somewhere in these buildings, and neighborhood, maybe the backlot of Archers, or up Doheny Drive's sidestreets, is one of my favorite cars of my dad.

1959 Impala convertible, 348 with Offy' tri-power, progressive linkage, 3 on the tree tranny'. His was the pale yellow, white top, with the Mickey Thompson '63 era mag wheels.

Had a weird color interior, the yellow/white/green material vinyl, with green carpet. Sounds odder than it looked, but it was the factory interior.

Yeah I know, NOT the task you said ... but after finding the guy with the Chrysler Hemi convertible, wanting way more than two grand ... I saw a glimpse of '59 tail light and fin ... white top ... and started running up the street to catch it.

My dad was stationed in Da'nang in '67 ... getting ready to hear the pound of the Tet Offensive soon to come. Phone call to my grandmother, at the time ... was nothing but impact echoes as my dad, made the call, waiting under the airfields ... safe and sound. This was an "at the time" unknown.

I'd of loved to have had his '59 waiting, when he came home. It was his favorite high school car.

 

I had the Gypsy red '55 Nomad at that time. My first purchase. A Chicago based rust bucket. Paid $200.

I'd buy some Fender and Gibson guitars and stash them under the bed. Some of those go for stupid money now.

Ha! 1967 on Sunset...My ex wife and I had just gotten married, were cruising around Sunset & Hollywood...looking for an apartment, I had gotten a job with Mark C. Bloom aligning front ends! Found a place in Tarzana, 4 blocks from work.
Also found a white '54 Ford Coupe, 239 Yblock, stick O.D.
Broken crankshaft, lady sold it to me for $15.00! Drove it home, a mile down Vanowen to our apartment. Replaced engine with a bored out 312, did it in the car port.

 

Seeing that I'm a Chrysler Products man. I seen a white '57 and '59 Plymouth and a salmon colored '56 Chrysler or DeSoto. My wife wants a wagon so she'd have picked a couple of them up and I'd be steering her toward the '40's woody or the Nomad.

I also saw a black '62 Valiant with red interior, just like my grandma used to drive.

 

Elevator music? Pretty similar to porno music at times.
If I get placed on hold on a call for a long time, when the woman comes back on the line I tell her the hold music sounds alot like porno music. Makes them pretty uncomfortable it seems. Haha

 

I'd want my old car back, 300 hp, red 64 Corvette coupe, with knock offs. Life was good!

To many to choose from. Counted at least 3 Cadillacs that would be high on my list. The white Plymouth convertible at 1:40 isn't something you see often but the one I noticed that you would never see is the 56? Ford with the service box at 1:46.

 

Nobody is going to mention he runs a redlight and almost tbones a guy at the end? It is interesting to see the number of cars that would be really collectible driving around. The woody looks like a 46-48 Ford. The '57 Plymouth convertible, Nomad, '57 Thunderbird, all nice stuff that was just an old car at the time. Two grand might buy you a couple of them if you got them right.

 

I,ll play. Not hamb friendly but a Toyota 2,000gt.......try pricing one now lol

I forgot to mention, that the two cars I would like the most from the video, would be the Nomad, or the bubble top that was almost T boned.

I'd get a shit ton of Flathead, early Hemi, and Cadillac speed equipment!!

 

Definitely NOT the Borgward Isabella I saw parked along the curb on the right.

 

I'd definitely nab that red Nomad, and if there's enough cash left I'd grab that white Chevy pickup (62?) turning left, gotta have a parts runner.

I'll take all the chevy pickups and the 2 panel trucks near the end, but I've got low standards (although old 50s-60s trucks have been selling for stupid money lately)

 

How 'bout going back another 10 years to Hollywood Blvd, 1957?

 

I'd go all the way back to 1626 and out bid Minuit by a dollar for the Manhattan purchase ($24). Then lease it back to the Lenape tribe for free. The other $1,975 would be spent on arms and ammo so they could defend it for as long as possible........ or maybe save the rest and head to the 60's for one of those Caddys.

 

I’d spend 2 grand to go back to Sunset having that much traffic.
