Hot Rods 62-7 Nova front clip?

...are 62-67 Nova/Chevy II front suspension clips the same, I'm talking about the inner fenders/frame stub that bolts to the body at the firewall.

You can buy one that fits all years, so possibly so? If you're talking about the stock inner fenders, then the answer would be different.

 

I would thing the 62 to 65 are same and the 66-67 are different.
I have a great front subframe w/discs from a 62 300 with a 194ci orig Mile engine available if any interest.

All the ones I see listed show 62-67

 

Looks like the same. Google 1962 - 1967 Chevrolet subframe

 

The bolt pattern to the body is the same. There are minor differences for each year.'62-3 have different steering components.The mounting points for the fenders-headlights-grill differs each year.If you look there are holes in the frame on the right side to accept right hand drive steering and clutch mounting components.

Correct. They all differ a lil. 62 has the one off idler.. 63 was the last of the 6cyls, unless it was some rare pre 64 model... I'm sure someone will say they had one..... If I'm correct, they all could be optioned with PS..... 2-5 is the same at the firewall. 6-7 might "look" the same with mounting holes, but the whole "engine box" inner front clip, is different for the 6-7...... Been there....... Multiple holes in assemblies for different options even if not used.
They cranked out the front assemblies by themselves. They were "universal" for any application, then were shipped to be mated to the body......I got a lil nutty with these things in the past...... Had about 25.......

 

Umm- 1963 wasn’t the last year for 6 cylinders in ChevyII/Novas. 1964 was first for v8s factory but they didn’t eliminate the 6.
I had a 65 SS that was original 6 cylinder and glide, bucket seat/console

Copy that- meant to say first year for the V-8 And- I had the same car as yourself.

The aftermarket world one size fits all... but it really is not the case if doing original tin.

If I recall correctly 62-5 then 66-7

My 65-79 Hollander book shows 65 rad support then 66-7 as a different number does not go back further and my old book to old damnit.

But one can make anything fit with a torch and welder look above ^^^^^

 

Knowing why someone asks the question (what they have in mind to try to do) really does help provide a more useful answer.

 

as stated above, my buddy has a complete 67 front clip, just wanted to know if it fit other years of Chevy II's other than 66-7....it is for sale....hope somebody doesn't hook it to a dumpster, but you gotta give that guy credit for imagination.

That couldn't be a better combination considering the ChevyII front suspension is about the worst thing to ever come out Chevrolet Engineering, that way it's the shortest throw to the dumpster.
There are modifications that can be made to them to improve them but it really doesn't fix them but what's the point, when your done you just have a bandaided suspension.

 

Interesting comment. You're right in one respect. What makes it a poor suspension are the control arms. The lower having a strut rod to locate it.The flex from the unibody doesn't help either.Not to mention flex coming from the spring/shock towers.The irony,though, is that it uses the same spindle geometry as the '67-72 Camaro and '64 - '72 Chevelle.

 

...I've owned several 63-4 Chevy II's, all with factory stock front suspensions, I had no complaints on how any of them handled, for me they were nice driving cars...

 

'62-'63 had 4 lug wheels. '64 and up had 5 lug wheels, 13" for 6 cyl. models and 14" for the V-8s.
