A chronicle of the progression from 1898 ( 39 MPH ) to 1997 ( 736 MPH ). HRP I suggest turning the sound off, the music is monotonous. HRP
If we're not trying to go faster, what's the point of the experimentation that's been done and the industry that's been created to allow us to do so?
Lets see what comes to mind... Innovation, experimentation, near perfection, aerodynamic advances, some pain, some joy, true pioneers, brass chunkies, dedication.
Pretty cool Thanks HRP. The NHRA museum recently had a Craig Breelove evening. Cool evening, lots of stories. Mike
So I have a dumb question............Having never been to the salt flats. At what point do the salt flats become to small for what speed we are trying to accomplish. What is the actual length of the track and what kind of runout area is there?
The salt is getting marginal for 500 mph cars. Which is why these kind of Absolute LSR cars don't run there anymore.
Here's one on George Poteet and Speed Demon via Facebook video on their time at Bonneville last month https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=2181342155497153
