Sit low and look cool. At least I accomplished one. I know all about why you should not use hairpins on solid axles. That has been told to me by many Hamb members. Thank you. What about aesthetics? I drove to the Charlotte Goodguys 3 years in a row. Once to the Auto Barn show. The car has about 100 miles on it now. The fun is in the building for me. Now it will go to my mineseum. Finished pictures now. Construction details later.
To get the engine LOW I used a marine 3 carb intake manifold. It sets down into the valley. I use only one large 2GC carb. I used a 153 tooth flywheel and sectioned the pan. Circle track type sump.
55 years ago I built my first circle track modified. 33 Mopar tubeuler front axle. Hairpin radius rod on the right and single radius rod on the left totally eliminating any bind. That car won the US 141 Speedway, [Wisconsin] championship 1964. Bennie Pritzl owner/driver. 1965 rule change allowed 5" more engine set back as pictured here.
Check out the ULTRA RARE Halibrands on my black 27 for sale. Kidney bean vent holes with gussets in between each hole.
I bet that scoots! Are you gonna do a windscreen, or are you sitting low enough to avoid eating bugs?
