really sweet, nice look all around. Compliments on the amazing construction. In the late 50's a guy from Hastings, Ne. campaigned a 40 coupe drag car with the rear windows filled, very sinister looking.

Beautifully done. I've always wanted to try something similar and dragged a '40 coupe trunklid home recently to stash just in case.

As said, this car really gets the proportions right. Any more in-progress pictures, would love to see them.

He did take some pictures but I do not know if they are the kind I can get into a computer--The pictures I have posted I took with a mini Ipad--I will talk to him next week and see if I can provide more--Don

    Wow. That's "golden proportions"
    Very nice work.
Very few could accomplish what you did
I was going to sell my '39, although it will never be a 3w. With that kind of inspirarion, maybe I could at least make a dirty black 5w '39 stay alive.

Nice, wish I had the talent to even think about doing that.

There is a vast amount of time, vision, talent, and determination in this project. Haveing been a body man for over 60+ years I can appreciate all your hard work. I was apprentice to a body man who worked on cars during the Great Depression and WWII and he taught me how to fix cars with only parts harvested from outer cars. For a long time I didn't know you could buy new 1/4 panels. I really like your build love the concept. Thanks for shareing

That turned out great. Many years ago I built a model '40 3WC out of the AMT kit. And I reversed the dash to make it right hand drive, put an Aussie license plate on it. Engine was a SBH (small block Holden).

I'm glad somebody dragged this old thread back, as I missed it the first time around. That is absolutely superb work. I have always preferred '39 DeLixes over forties, but this is just over the top.!

I haven't seen the car since 2017. I know Ken really likes the Willys, and he brings that to most of the shows. Does he still have the 3-window 39?

    That’s a Great looking Coupe
I always wanted a 39 Coupe until my 39 Convertible rolled into my life

I don't know how many of you guys noticed what he did with the rear fenders etc. He extended the fenders and the portion below the trunk to follow the flow of the arc to be more similar to the Lincoln Zephyr. He felt it needed that to be more proportional.

  24. Amazing workmanship. You, Sir, are an artist. Looks like it came that way from the factory.

Really awesome. Side profile definitely screams Willys to me.

image.jpeg image.jpeg A couple more pics when building. You can see the proportioned back of the rear fenders. The door windows are of a 36 Ford 3 window. The doors are long as they were from the original 2 door sedan.

A couple of years ago this custom 3W was on display at the GNRS. My favorite car of the show, I know nothing about the build or owner. IMG_7696.jpg

  30. There are some people on The H.A.M.B. that have an abundance of talent, this one of them.
