So you have had 30 years to think about it and haven't figured it out yet, maybe you should sent it to me.
get it set up so you can take it to the drag strip and run it, and let me know when you'll be there, I'll come watch. I wonder what the hood looks like from another angle? Might be interesting. I'd keep the Super Tricks on it, myself.
Find a similar hood without the scoop(faded & weathered paint), put faded paint "stock-looking" steel wheels on it : instant "sleeper"!! LOL! Enjoy the hell out of it!!
Well, the S/Ts & the hood kinda (gotta) go together. So I'd go with Torque Thrusts on front and a stock hood in red lacquer primer, drive.
I'll be the outlier here. It's a 70's drag car. Unless you have a different build style in mind why desecrate it. Keep the hood, add a pair of 70's Super Tricks in the back to match the front. Not sure what's under the hood but a small block with a vintage Edelbrock TR tunnel ram would do fine. Great car!
55’s are my favorite of the series.. One of the models I built and kid and have always liked that particular year.. What’s the drivetrain combination..?
Put your hand on the radio! Gawd I love 55 210's. I was out driving some years back in an area I had not been in for a while but not more than two miles from where I live, there was one in a yard that looked like it had been there for a while based on the grass around it. I figured it might be worth pursuing, the first time I asked I got a less than warm reaction, he said "it's not for sale", six months later I inquired again and he said ITS NOT FOR SALE so I just decided to let it go, drove by there again about a year later just to torture myself and it was gone. Good thing, the guy did seem kind of agitated, not sure how he might have reacted on my third attempt. I'm sure he got inquiries pretty regularly as it was a nice untouched original 55.
Clean it, clear it, run it. And have fun with it; you did wait 30 years for the car,and now you finally have it. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Take the big hood scoop off , put a small one on like the American graffiti '55 , and chrome wheels all around .
I've got to agree with that. The car has obviously had that hood and those wheels for a long time and why switch it around to please a few people and loose part of it's heritage. That's not to say a different hood and different set of wheels might be the order of the day if you plan to run at certain events where you may need to fit into an earlier period to please the powers that be and get to run at all. On the other hand if the scoop or wheels are something you always felt were wrong for the look you wanted head on. We all have our Ideal look for most any car.
I would clear it, add some big aluminum slots out back, then beat on it. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Sorry to burden you with my opinion but............... Not sure which camp you belong to but my usual response to that statement goes something like "you haven't seen a car with patina with clear over it have you". I suppose there are some circles that dig that look but I've seen A BUNCH of cars with that done to them since the trend started, (not nessasarily just 55 Chevys) and it looks NASTY. A 55 Chevy 210 deserves better!
Sorry to be "the dick" here, but that patina from the doors forward looks staged, especially on the hood scoop. Outside of that it's a very cool 55.
