Bought this dash off a Hamber. It is missing the parts/pieces on either side of the horizontal louvers in the middle. Anyone know what they are and if they are repopped? Or where I could get them? Already placed a wanted ad. Thanks.
There is an ashtray and throttle knob on one side and lighter knob and choke knob on the other side...
Good info above.........ashtray on bottom/throttle on left side & choke/lighter on right........here's finished dash in my avatar 39 with wiper switch in original throttle spot, stock choke setting and just knobs on both bottom ones......
Easy way to tell a '38 Deluxe and '39 dash apart. '38 windshield regulator handle is just above the radio speaker grille. '39 regulator has a round knob up on top of the dash.
Without the glove box door, can't tell if it's a 1938 standard or deluxe dash.. Standard had no lock on glove box door...
So with all this 38-9 dash talk, who's got a Standard glove box door and hinge? I hate to weld up a Deluxe but I will if I must. I have that to trade, and I have a clock that needs restoring for a 39 Deluxe. Any help, leads?
Restoration of my 39 gauges & clock were handled by Mark Clawson of Anacortes, Wa, has his own website........did a super job for a reasonable price.......
Actually I'd trade the deluxe door for a standard. Have the clock to sell or trade too. I want the plain door for artistic reasons. And yes I'll cover that in the build thread.
'38-'39 standard and deluxe dashes are very similar... dlx ? had slots for horizontal trim... . the '38-'39 woodie and convertible cluster and glovebox doors taper downward towards the outside edges... the '38-'39 closed cars glovebox door is almost a rectangle... modified dash pic. some ashtray, lighter and speaker grill trim are ribbed [shown], some are smooth... hard to see but this dash has smooth trim... not sure if the ribs were also used on the speedometer and cluster bezels...
Notice the '39 has squared tops (vs. '38's rounded tops) on the two openings either side of the speaker grille...
