This is my first build and have been able to figure everything out until now. I got this truck in pieces, so I wasn’t sure how it was put together originally. I’m working on a 1946 Chevy truck and working on the front end. Everything works until I put on the curved hood mount, mounts grille to radiator mount. When I put this piece on, I have about a 1” gap between grille and hood. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks

  4. you need to adjust the radiator core support rods to pull the grille section back, do you have those?

I tried that, didn’t make a difference. I have 31 7/8” from firewall to center of v brace bolts, I read this somewhere. I will try this again.

I’m wondering if something needs to be raised or lower ie, cab or radiator.

are you sure it is the right hood? the 39-40 hoods look similar but are shorter. the wheelbase on a 39-40 is 1 1/2" shorter than a 41-46 and the difference is ahead of cowl.

This is the hood that it came with.

that doesn't mean it is the correct hood. if you measure the center hinge I can tell you if it is the correct hood or not. I have both models of those trucks.

Can you give me the measurement for a 1946 hood? Thanks

the center hinge is 37 inches total length. the side panel at the top measures 36 1/4 inches. that should give you an idea if what you have is correct.

Big gaps from the factory both trucks and cars. Add metal and paint
