...Not sure I'd want these two lovebirds around my Hotrod but that Highboy is a fairly early Hotrod in the big scheme of things 1938...very cool

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Long gone is the fad of the "fad T". Nowadays it's fad 32's! So I guess a T like this is a "somewhat" non-homogenized hot rod. I would probably do some things a little different, but low buck builds are always cool, as far as I'm concerned. Looks like a Mustang might have been the donor car, including the engine, trans and the rear end and suspension links.

    Fantastic looking (non-Ford) hot rod!
Pic is from Dan Greeberg's 2019 Bonneville picture thread.

...Anybody like to date this incredible pic of a highly polished I suspect racer which if put on the open road would fit in and compete with the finest of Hotrods...I'm thinking mid to late 30s...Is that Lion Crest related to Gilmore?

Headlight placement is interesting and really suits the tracknose style of build and was actually pretty lowdown for the day...pretty meaty Bias plies and www's to boot.

Certainly something to glean positive ions in a Hotrod build and I'm sure it did...Can you imagine the sound and I wonder what was under that hood?

I liked this for your message and the homebuilt edge this T possesses and your right don't see to many T Buckets at the cruises these days...there was one the last cruise I was at...but OT no surprise...

One thing I don't understand is with the new MORE Traditional Looking Radial Bias Plys available these days Hotrodders like the Owner of this T could still run a-radial but more Traditional in flavor...

I suspect though that they could care less about that OR cost is an issue...but man they look hideous on an open wheel Hotrod...just my opinion of course...:)

Drive it like Ya-Stole it...interesting times indeed...wonder if this was prelude to the use of this imagery I thought was a wartime thing?

I just zoomed in on that looks like a balaclava...maybe he's dressed as the Grim Reaper...there was some wild stuff going on then much as there is today...funny I was thinking it may have a skull face on it like the bikers wear today...creepy shit.

I suspect racing back then was pretty dirty and covering up was mandatory...many probably died of dirt in lung disease...

Getting all the salt off of and out of that car will not be easy. Never play hide and seek with wet salt it will always win in the end.

It looks the Ford/Miller 1935 Indy car with a different nose. I think I can see a little of the axle fairing. The underpan and from the firewall back looks just like the Indy car. The hood latches are the same, has the 3 louvres on the cowl, and the wheels look very similar.
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

It looks like a shortened 35 plymouth grill shell, but the grill looks more like 35 ford.

Probably sold those those ugly bits to a Hotrodder...:D...joking aside the Hotrod street and race had parallels aligned in many ways...

Dayuum, what a beautiful period in time for automotive excellence look at the tops of the lights washing into the side exhaust...you can see both those noses fitting right into a Roadster Body Dry Lakes style...which brings a question...Did any of these Indy creations grace the Salt of Bonneville or dirt of El Mirage/Muroc
    Thanks for sharing that @SR100

It was a Miller Ford. I believe this is the one that Wilbur Shaw did a bunch of testing for Gilmore Gasoline. They cut a hole on the side of the cast iron headers to get the exhaust out the side and plugged the bottom up. I think the car was eventually parted out. About 20 years ago at the LARS the headers showed up for sale and not shortly after that the body was for sale in the Recycler. I always wondered what happened to all the parts and if it was ever put back to a Miller Ford

What an incredibly disappointing end to such a graceful beast...I'm sure that was far more common an ending than not. Great details...thanks for sharing.
