Fireball became my hero when I found out he drove a 55 Buick stock car and later on the Pontiacs. I was just a kid when I heard he was killed in that crash, felt bad about it for a long time.

Fred Lorenzen and his 65 Galaxie winning the Daytona 500 in 1965, was a factor in my life long love affair with the 1965 Ford Galaxie.

I loved the days of the "real" stock cars. Stock car racing now is just like new cars, they all look the same. It really pissed me off when Toyotas came to NASCAR!! I youtube stock car races from the 50s and 60s, neat to see the old cars and great drivers.

Buckeye, we have to be cut from the same bolt of cloth! I quit following NASCAR, when they left the “stock” cars too. Never liked the restricters either, but understand. Kinda like bracket racing....you lose....because you went too fast! You can’t go too fast in racing.....that’s kinda the point of racing! Lol
I about puked when I heard they were going to let Toyota race......did when they won one!
Still hate to see it. Also hate to see the absence of Chrysler. Today, the brand of car seems to take a back, very back , seat to the drivers. Not to take from them , but back in the day, the car seem to also play a part in winning and came with bragging rights. Sure miss the old days.

  23. I missed out on one of these right hand drive "Postal vans" with cut down window opening on right door. It was on feebay a couple of years ago n the high bidder was from Australia. Actually a good home for it with the right hand drive!

Could not have said it any better myself. I get accused of being an old stuck in my ways asshole but like Popeye, I am what I am. I expect to hear of Nissans, Hondas and Volvos and no telling what other foreign shit boxes on the NASCAR tracks any time now. GAG,PUKE, RANT
