Starts this weekend in Macungie, Pa....about 5 miles west of Allentown....I will be in the flea market again this year....selling good used trim and misc. hot rod and kustom kar parts....I have T-bird interiors for sale with buckets and console......stop buy and say Hi.....pic is from last year....
Magungie Pa. probably a little to far for Ya!! Great park, reminds me of old time town,(down your area most likely has alot of them) Have not been there in a couple years but it was always great!! I,m sure Matt(irontrap) will be there!! Pete
I'll be there again but alone this time. The 4 friends I usually travel with refuse to go because of the parking situation and have started calling the place "MaCONEgie" because of all the reserved spaces.
...............Probably worth the trip just to see the Flintstone mobile and to listen to "Flaming Dick and the Hot Rods".
Nice event held in a picturesque part of PA. I used to love listening to Flaming Dick, but he's sputtered of late and needs viagra. Their show has lost a lot over the years, but haven't we all. Yeah the reserved parking thing is a PIA. Over the years they have had some really cool celebrity guests. This year, not so much. Despite my negativity I'll still go for a day. It's a somewhat close destination for me and something to do.
Despite acting like an A-hole, Horny Mike is genuinely funny and the people loved him when he was there the last time. I go for the cars, and there are plenty of great ones that show up. This event is still one of the best in the region, and all the money goes to local charities.
As far as Flamin’ Dick goes , he’s had some health problems; but he can still let her rip as good as ever. Those guys are tight!
A lot of hard work goes into putting on this show and the fact that all proceeds go to charity is one reason I go every year. That said, PA has a lot of good car shows. I don't know if they are all charity based, but I especially like the "hot rod" themed shows (aka Gasket Goons in Sept in Hellersville). I dig the rockabilly bands, pin up contests, and traditional HAMB hot rods.
Al , the club sells an area 12.5 feet by 25 feet for $ 100. since it's inception we have donated $ 50,500. to Charity . We did not promote this idea but people asked if they could buy spaces and we thought this is good way to increase our donations to Charity !
Al, it's a public park and the problem is, that most locals get to the park on Thursday and map out most of the good spots with cones, as you mention. I got there on Thursday last year about 1:00 PM and the place was a field of cones and police tape, saving spaces.
That is an interesting bit of info I was not aware of. No wonder almost the entire upper section, where the shade is, is always coned and roped off.
The last time I went was1999 . I do not think they were selling space back then the place is full of chairs and cones .I drive around and do not find a space I like . Went up to a long row of chairs removed the end one and parked. Guy comes up tells me sorry but I am saving that for my friend , I ask him is he a good friend and is willing to fight for him.He walks away comes back with a another guy but he was not willing to do more than run his mouth .About 11:00 guy pulls up in a high $ 34 coupe and tells me what a bad ass he is .I told him I paid for a space to put my car just like him .
Interesting...... How much is a space in the Car Corral ? Ha ! I had the same experience few years ago.........AND... I also got a parking ticket !!
