I went to Speed Week this year for my second year with great expectations since this year I had real media credentials which would have enabled me to get pictures of cars running on the actual courses. That was not to be, unfortunately, due to rains the previous week the courses were too wet to run on and there was water and slush intermittently in the pits as well. Despite that, the light was decent and I did get some decent shots. It also allowed me to smuggle out much more salt hidden under the car than I did last year. So without further delay, lets get this thread rolling.

Bringem' on @Dan Greenberg...slush and all...It has been a bit of a washout for shows here and there this year but that is the nature of outdoor events...I certainly applaud the best efforts by everyone to make the best of it...Thanks in advance for your Artpics...;)

Post them up Dan, your pics are always great. Transmission went out in my car so I couldn't go. The team I would crew with didn't make any runs. They didn't feel good about the conditions.

  12. This is a car built @ my work , assembled by my assembly team. A 2018 Daytona/ Talladega backup car that Aaaron has taken & performed his "Magic" to run on the salt with the awesome "Performance Plus " Motor Oil support.
    Cheers

Salt racers are a hearty bunch, they put so much effort into building, preparation and travel, only to get stopped by weather conditions, and in many cases have to wait a year to try again. I built this car as a Rear Modified Roadster in '14, and last year converted it to a Lakester, for my friend Jim Lindsay. The only run it made, after waiting in line for over a day, had problems shifting. I left on Monday, without seeing any runs, but the camaraderie and good time was worth it. I'm sure it is an awesome car and definitely looks the part. I took quite a few pictures of it and the crew and also helped their photographer by pressing the button a few times so he could be in the pictures too.

  19. Great seeing you guys out there. The worst year on the salt is still a good one.

Greatphotos as we can always expect from you Dan.
Listening to the landspeed racing broadcast on the laptop as much as other issues would allow it sounded like the guy who might have had the best time were the ones who were going after their rookie cards.
Hopefully it will dry out and the salt will be good for the later in the year events.

Thanks @Mr48chev. Despite not having any actual runs when I was there, the weather was really nice and there was still a lot to photograph, a lot of people to visit with and fun at the car show at the Nugget.
