Here are my photos from this year's HAMB Drags. I have to admit, we left before any runs were made. I wasn't sure it would dry out enough before it rained again.
Great photos, Thanks for sharing. I saw a video on FB of two cars facing off so they must have got going.
I was there until about 4:00 when it started a light rain (again) and racing had come to a stop after about 1 or 1 1/2 our of racing. By the time I was just a couple miles down the road the rain picked up to a light steady rain. I guessed it might have been doing the same thing at Mo-Kan. So....I'm wondering did the races resume again later? This I will say, the cars were numerous and fantastic! This was just my 2nd year as just a spectator and thought the variety and quality of the cars was worth every mile of the 11+ hour round trip to make it to the HAMB Drags! Lynn
They did start racing again and believe all classes made at least one pass. It was called at around 5:30 due to more showers. No passes over 1/8 mile. Some great cars today and some put on a real show. Oh, thanks for the pics.
As I live only about 20 miles away this is the first year in about 5 I didn't go. Woke up this morning to the sound of rain and then watched it rain off and on all day decided to sit this year out. Shame too as it looks like a lot of cars made it !!
Great pics thanks for taking the time to post all them up. We did get to run but Mother Nature finally caught up to us again in the afternoon and shut us down.
Great pictures! Thank you for sharing, that had to be a lot of work, fun work that is! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
They did run some, but the rain put a stop to it, then they got a little more in then here came the rain again! Bones
Thanks for you roving eye on the festivities @Sancho...there only a few things that wet stuff is good for...one is reflections and I see you caught a few... Looks like everyone made the best of it...Ole Mother Nature can be a bit of a Bitch... Extended thanks to the others sharing this much anticipated Hambfest...
Thanks for posting. I made a ceremonial pass in the old truck. This makes 20 years that I have driven to the strip, made a pass and driven home in the old truck. I have a large stack of timing slips. Lots of fun for an old guy.
Can’t wait to scroll threw these this afternoon! Missed this year but looks like there were a lot of new and awesome cars and in typical hamb drags style every one had a great time regardless if it rained, boiled or both!
looked like terrific event, even though Mother Nature rained on the parade - great race cars - Thanks for pics
First off I want to thank the mokan track crew for working so hard to give us the opportunity to at least make one pass drying the track several times isn’t an easy task also want to thank Ryan for making this thing happen for me this is a event I look forward to every year and so far I’ve made them all ive been late to a couple due to extenuating circumstances but made them all. This year I have been plagued with broken cars all year and with some major thrashing and help from good friends I was able to make a pass it wasn’t a barn burner but it was a good solid shake down run to get some data to start tuning with any how thanks to a couple good friends here is a pic of a cruise through the pits to warm up the newly installed alcohol Hilborn injected 426 wedge in the Poison Ivey’s dodge afx
We struggled Saturday morning with the decision to stay home. We had already wasted Friday trying to shop a swap meet full of covered tables. Ultimately my teen son made the call, and we spent the day in the shop working on his truck. It was a good day. Looks like some great rides in attendence!
Sancho, Boneyard and wrenchbender thanks for the photos! *** THANK YOU RYAN FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN AGAIN! *** *** THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO BROUGHT THEIR CAR OUT -IN THE RAIN EVEN! *** Saturday was my summer vacation and I had a great time thanks to everyone else! I know the day started late and ended early, but..., I got to see a bunch of great looking hotrods, a few fantastic paint jobs, a whole lot of fantastic piston powered noise! Even spent a few bucks at the swap meet. A great day all things considered. Sure a lot more racing would have been nice, but you can't always have everything. One final note: Ryan, I apologize for making you get your Alliance tag stamper out in the rain -just joking and thanks again! -Dave
