Most any thing built before 1960ish if it is drag strip material. Most anything before ww2 works for me.
The roadster in post 25 is a perfect example, but the hood scoop makes me loose my lunch.

But wasn't it the NSRA that defined the 48 and earlier cut off?
I respect your opinion, I just don't agree,I take it your thoughts are if a car is not a 48 or earlier it can't be a hot rod. HRP[/QUOTE]
Yes it was NSRA that defined the 1948 cutoff year

    ALL 20's 30's 40's cars look BETTER w/o bumpers.
Bumpers obscure the natural beauty of the cars lines.
    ….and most 50's and 60's cars too.

Drag and sports race cars, and some hot rods look good to me with no front bumper. But I ran nerf bars or custom bumpers on my own customs. The nerf was not for my own driving, but for some fool that parks poorly near me.

  19. back in the day cars came with a device designed to bend the bottom lip on a front bumper. It was standard equiptment in the trunk. the Bumper jack. and when lifting a vehicle it caused damage to the front bumpers. the rear was lighter and did not suffer as bad. so in the mid sixties I pulled the bent and damaged chrome bumpers from my 1950,s cars. The availavility of the factory screw jacks saved the bumpers on many vehicles. A tri five chevy look good without a bumper. A 57 chevy to me has too much front bumper its not a Buick. I own 5 -1955 chevys and do not possess even one front bumper.
