Not to rain on the Halibrand parade, but I thought Pop Dreyer built the first Magnesium race car wheels.

    16×10's are my favorite Hals.
We like photos Carlos, are they as cast or polished?

Guys, Got in on this post late. I have had several sets of Hals and I'm currently running a set on my 5 window. I purchased them in the sixties already polished and stored them in those bags that you use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the air. They stayed pretty nice for over thirty years. Had them beaded, powder coated and cleared for preservation. They have been on the car for over a year now and still look great.

Von Hemi, yes you have real Halibrands. Those were made during the Kansas era in the 80's or 90's.

  15. Hey Gang . . . am trying to stick with as much magnesium as possible on my 34 coupe (mid 60's style nitro coupe type build). Have a mag Crower injector, mag 8-71 Bowers blower, mag Jones Q.C. - wished I had mag Donovan 417 covers . . . but I need front wheels!

I recently acquired a really cherry set of 16x10 on 5 x 5 1/2 for the rear - would really LOVE to run spindle mounts on the front. Anybody have a set of spindle mounts? Like 15 x 4 1/2 . . . or????

I've got this pair of old Halibrand 5.5"x15" wheels. A friend who is in his 80's now ran them back many decades ago. They still have his old Goodyear racing tires on them. Always wanted to put them on one of my cars, but they're this little 4 lug pattern.

I've got three lug patterns drilled in my 18s. They haven't fallen apart (there) yet. Wheel1 copy.jpg

I've purchased a Halibrand I'm not familiar with and hope somebody might be. I was told a big story from the seller, but not sure if I can believe it. I did a Google search but couldn't confirm his story, or find any more info on it.

He told me it was used on the #20 car in the 1970 Indianapolis 500. Said the guy he bought it from a long time ago had a matched pair, with the Goodyear tires still on them. Which he said was unusual because Goodyear always kept the tires from the race. No idea where the tires or other wheel went.

I've got plenty of early sprint and drag car era Halibrands, but nothing like this. Any help you can give is appreciated.

It's big enough for a fire hose. Would make a nice coffee table if I can't find an Indy car restorer.

That's it Alchemy. Buy single wheel and build a car around it. I did that once around a pair of 14-32 slicks. But, that's another story

  30. Back up for more Halibrand pics and history. Please post up pics of your Halibrand Speedway wheels as well as the Sprints. Aluminum is great as I'm far too poor for Magnesium.:( 20190924_054010.jpg 20190924_054023.jpg 20190924_054034.jpg
