Problem with that one is that with a grill change back to Willys, a tire change and a paint job and most guys could stand right beside it and not recognize it's old self from a previous life.

I like the stories where a guy will find his old car but because it went through many hands and numerous changes that at first he's not sure it was his, then he finds some little detail or modification that can't be mistaken because he did it.
Most non car people wouldn't feel this connection but reading those stories does your heart good.
    Good luck.

Unfortunately you are 100% right! I'm hoping that the subtle fenderwell sculpting in the rear and the one piece steel flip front end will have remained, along with the 1964 NHRA E/Gas record holder status. I know it's wishful thinking, but I do dare to dream.

Legend has it that it's still somewhat local - Downers Grove, I'll. area. I know the color was changed to pearl white instead of Sierra Gold and the chrome front end was painted black, good song but not good for a gasser, Haha! Never paint a chrome straight axle black!!!!!!!!!

  6. Maybe the axle was painted due to rusty chrome? I have no help, but here is another picture of the Willys your looking for. I will keep an eye out at the local nostalgia drags and car shows around the Chicago area. Good luck with your search. Willys coupe @ Oswego.jpg

  7. Hopefully it will turn up in 2019. HRP

Slayer, you just made my Fuckin' Day!!! That's a pic I haven't seen before!!! Absolutely Fuckin' Awesome!!! If you have any more, PLEASE forward them to me!!! It was my dad's car from 68 to about 72, but he was there when Elliot and Snow built It! It passed through a couple of more friends before he got it, but, from what I hear, that car was top notch in EVERY aspect! It is my dream to be able to find it and give it back to him! Call me a sentimental 'Ol Fool!!!!

Don't forget the front wheel opening mods, another telltale sign. That will be some find, a Great looking Willys!

  21. Stay positive. I found my high school car 25 years after I sold it. Maybe a add in the gasser wars magazine would help.

Slayer, do you remember where or who you got that pic from? Possibly any other little details that might help with the hunt?

  26. I think I found that picture on the Oswego drag strip Facebook page. That would also be a good place to post a info wanted add. I'm guessing that was the home track to that Willy's at some point.

You can stop guessing now! You're right! Oswego, U.S.30 and occasionally Cordova, The Grove too! Thank You!!! Looks like I'm gonna have to have my kid set me up on this FB stuff!

Any updates on finding your Willys?? I believe my car used to run at Cordova also. It was run by Joe Gren and I’m not sure if my car was pearl white?? It’s the only picture I have of it in this configuration.

  29. i agree. Theres always some little weld, or one off bracket, or little "defect" that nobody else ever noticed, but you saw every time you were in the car. As soon as you see it again, you instantly know its your old ride
