My speedometer has always been right on or real close. All of a sudden it is showing around 80 mph when I’m only going around 60 mph. It is a manual cable one not electric. Never heard of this happening. Anyone have an idea what’s going on with it?

If the speedometer is worn it can start to read fast. If you haven't made any other changes like tire size or rear end ratio change the speedometer probley needs to be repaired, that is if its not an aftermarket unit, if it is it will need to be replaced.
What kind of speedometer is it?

It’s a VDO and only has 26,000 miles on it

Some of the later VDO speedometers for Hot Rods are not repairable.
I don't work on VDO but you can contact John at Deluxe Speedometer in Denver to see if he can repair yours
