Hands in the air for anyone heading back to York PA. for The Goodguys show in August. Will it be bigger than NSRA?...or will it be one and done...as usual.

  3. ............I don't get too excited about June in York anymore.

  4. I will probably go up and look around... mainly to see if the old heap will make it... about 1.5hr drive for me
I have some friends that will be in an area parking lot outside the venue for the weekend that I will probably hang out with.

I just rolled into York and saw a few hot rods roaming around and discovered Goodguys is in town. Any one know if there is a host hotel or anything going on Thursday night?

I’m in York very often and never knew Winters was right down the road from where I work when I’m here. I’ll check out them out after work. Looks like the Wyndham is near by too.

I gave up on Good Guys long ago. NSRA will follow soon. These groups are pricing themselves right out business.

  18. I wonder how much it costs to rent an entire fairgrounds for 4 days, including liability insurance, staff costs, etc...?
Then I wonder how much profit I would consider "enough" to do all the work involved with putting on a show of that size? organizing vendors, events, give-a-ways, food sales, licensing, entertainment (Bands and DJ), security, event staff, advertising costs...seems like a lot of work.
$18 doesn't seem like that bad of a price to just show up and enjoy the event for the day...
Still way cheaper than a 3 hour concert, MLB game, even a movie ticket is around $12.

Both organizations are just out for money at this point. It’s too bad, but that’s where it is today

  22. for the York Good guys it looked like $75 for a non member to show the car for the weekend and that included two weekend passes...
My little local church shows and the like are $15 for the one day event (200 cars or less)
York Show is 3 days, so $15 a day for 3 days would be???

My range membership is $65 a year with mandatory "service time"
My VFW and American Legion memberships are in the $50+ a year range...
my rodders journal subscription is $65 a year..
    $50 HAMB membership....
I am just not seeing a $35 membership as a make or break thing.

to each his own... when NSRA and Good Guys and the others are gone we can all sit around and talk about the good ol' days when there used to be big car shows across the country and how the whole hobby is shrinking and doomed.

Like Graystoke said, Frog follies pre 48 and it doesn't cost much. This is a great show with friendly people. We have every weekend several car shows around our area. Most of these are raisin money for their own charity and not their own bank account.

Went to York on Saturday. Lot of Super neat cars inside Air Conditioned building and many on grounds. $18. to enter and $5. to park. Swap meet was a bust. Interesting to see if NSRA takes notice at amount of cars at Goodguys event. Started to rain at 11AM, ran for cover.

I wish they were going this in late Sept. or October. This area could use a bigger show in the fall .

  28. .....I got a $3 veteran discount making it $15 to enter. Every little bit helps.:)

  29. ........I was pleasantly surprised by the car count. Excellent turn-out and yes, the cars inside the building were top of the line for sure. Nice vendor attendance as well and the gymkana activity was another fun plus over a static car show. Hopefully the swap meet will grow more if there is a second year. All in all, a nice chance to check out an alternative event within driving distance from home.
