People who have never experienced this really need to give it a try. This is my second time as a spectator and even without racing, it's a gas. The high end teams, Poteet and Vesco invite you into their pits to ask stupid questions about their cars. Mr. Poteet personally came over to me, chatted, invited us in. It's one last bastion of traditional speed. All this time money and effort by these teams for personal satisfaction.

Later this week will be record setting. Teams are racing for 500+. That's cool.

We have to head back to Wisconsin sometime Monday. Probably won't see much racing, but it's a gas! Get here before you run out of opportunities.

Yes, doing a trip from Wisconsin is a real fun time. On the way, it's a good time to see the Black Hills, Mount Rushmore and even Yellowstone. At Wendover with the FANTASTIC racing, the Nugget evening shows and gambling, it doesn't get any better than that!

  4. Leaving early today as we won't see any racing by the time we NEED to go tomorrow. Met lots of great people like George Poteet, Squirrel and many others. Hope to be back from NZ with own little car to have a go. JW

    From SCTA:

    SW 2019 Update #10 (8/11/19):

Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. we will start racing. There will be no Pre-Stage it is first come first serve and the number of courses for Tuesday will be determined. As of now, the long course is the only one ready. Anyone can run on the long course, but it will only be timed to the 4 mile and you must exit before the 6 mile. If you go past the six it is in bad shape. Short course vehicles must shut down at the 3 mile and the Rookie Course vehicles must shut down at the 2 mile. Rookie orientation is tomorrow (Monday)at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. and Wed-Thurs at 11:00a.m. at the Registration Trailer.

JUST A REMINDER, THE NEW SPEED LIMIT FOR THE ACCESS ROAD IS 45 MPH.

We will continue to post updates.

    See ya on the salt!

  11. Anyone know who this one belongs to? Very interested in those front wire wheels- what they are, how the ride is, and if/how well they are holding up in turns/normal driving situations!

I got there on Friday, didn't shoot many pictures. Came home yesterday, waiting for results from today. This is Jim Lindsay's car, I built it in '14 as a Rear Modified Roadster, and converted it to a Lakester over the last year couple of years, hoping it works well.

The type of wash solution used to neutralize salt contamination is the soap that's used in an electric dishwashers. There is a company which is been in business at least 30 years sells a gallon of wash solution for approximately $30. 1 gallon this solution makes 100 gallons of wash. I sent it to a lab to have it analyzed Here was the results 94% water, 1% dye, and 5% of dishwashing soap.
