Got a bit more accomplished today.
White under the dash makes it so much easier to see. When installing everything later.

They are a safer more secure latch than the original.
Plus, when I had the car acid dipped. The alloy base that the factory latch striker secured to dissolved away. So was pretty much forced to do this instead.

Did some much needed cleaning and organizing. Back to sanding now.

Slowly making progress with a ton of block sanding.
At least now I have Netflix in the shop during this mindless process to make it a bit more bearable.

Modified the original steering wheel to fit an aftermarket steering column.

I'm in the process OK ("slow, very slow")of redoing my '54 Bel Air 2dr. firewall & inner fender panels, while on the firewall noticed that body stamping is also set up to be done as a right hand drive car, curious did you find the same ? Dyno Dave

No, mine was not set up to be converted to right hand drive. Would like to see how yours is set up and where it was built to be like that though.

    Beautiful design and execution.
Are you sure you want to paint it green?

I checked my photo gallery, lots of pictures of the cleaned up firewall, none of the original. Look at your right side floorboards, spot the two 3"x 3" small relief squares = clutch & brake, to the right 3" round relief = gas pedal, don't they match the ones on the right ? Thinking there was some indication where the steering tube & column shift lever shaft would have passed through the firewall.. Your car is going to be outstanding... Dyno Dave

Agreed, they won’t be that thick. That was just me scribbling on a picture on my cell phone.

Took Lolita around the block a couple laps for the first time. Hadn’t been on the road since 1995.

Glad your keeping the family member. Love that your " hands on" everything . It is inspiration to watch this thread:). One major negative is to be close to your level , I now have to go clean up the shop, build a shed to house the "extras" and get to work on a project:eek:. :D Two thumbs up
