We're planning to go to Greaserama for the first time this year... Going to tow my car down since it'd take me a week and I probably wouldn't make it if I drove, she likes the shorter trips. We're looking to camp or stay where there will be other show goers.... Anybody who's been there done that have a recommendation of where to stay or where not to stay? There are a couple hotels in Platte City close by the show grounds. The below camp ground is a well known camping spot near Platte City. https://basswoodresort.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gmb There are a couple of conservation areas nearby as well, not sure if they allow camping. If I still lived in the area, I’d let you camp in my yard. I had 6 acres in Platte City.
I have a couple buddies that go every year, have for like 6 years. They say it's a blast, if you can't find something that knocks your socks off then you ain't looking. Said there is something for everyone. I keep wanting to go but for the last 3 years something always comes up.

Saturday early is probably the best time to go, lots of traditional cars if you walk the massive grounds to find them. Lots of vendors, generally a decent swap meet area, bands play all day both days. Good pre party Friday night in the city. Bring water, sunblock, cash and ice. There is one indoor building with a dozen or so cars and beer/vendors , in door bathrooms but its generally pretty crowded so I don’t try to use it as a realistic escape from the heat. I generally describe it as a big party that every one drove old cars too.
We got a spot at the basswood. Almost ready to load up and head out... Just waiting on the calendar to catch up. Is anyone else camping there? Sent from my rotary phone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
