What held the chrome strips on to the 2 doors on the passenger side? I don't see any holes for clips. Or have the doors been replaced at some time in the past?

 

I’m always up for another road trip, will tag along.

The missing door trim was held on by a long retainer strip that it snaps over, the strip was held on with screws. The screw holes are faintly visible. The retainer strips were in the trunk. My guess is that they bent up the trim while removing it, and so didn't put it back on. I'm not too worried about it, but if I happen across some trim cheap I'll get it and install it.

Cruising about 65. I did a little test at home, it seems to be running 2500 rpm at about 60 mph in high gear overdrive. The 4.56 gears are a bit steep, eh? But that lets me start out in 2nd gear almost always, so I only have to shift into 3rd, then let up on the gas to get overdrive. It's almost a semi-automatic transmission.

I dumped another two quart of oil in the engine today (there are three quarts between the add and full marks on the dipstick), and another 4 ounces of ATF into the clutch. It's using more oil than I hoped, but still not as bad as before the ring job.

 

Feed my curiosity, Squirrel. What weight oil are you using in that puppy?

Stop @ a Wal-Mart or parts store & buy the Hudson some Restore. This should help your oil problem. It does work. I have used it in a 312 57 T bird.

 

Because they are equally ‘indestructible’ ?

Put a quart of Lucas in instead of oil next time.

 

Hudsons had a clutch disc with the lining made of cork. It ran in oil called hudsonite. Now people use ATF in its place.

No better way to travel than in a Hudson!! Great choice of car. The o/d is a great help for hwy driving.
Here we are at last years HRHC. Drove from Rapid City, SD to Central City, CO and back(just short of 1000 miles in 3 days)in the Hudson.

 

I'm on highway 6, stopped for lunch in Tonopah. A little while ago I was stopped for a rest and this A pulled in.

Planning to take Sonora pass over the mountain. Wish me luck.
