I have a question on the cantilever/rocker suspension... it appears the arms of the rockers are equal length, if this is the case do you calculate spring rate the same as if they were mounted vertical? Just trying to learn a little, I haven’t been able to find any calculators for figuring spring rate on a cantilever suspension

    You bet your sweet biscuits.
    What a rig.
The benefits of coilovers without the space intrusion is neat.
And in the rear view, the rear axle almost looks like it's not even attached to the chassis.
Fun to watch all the finished components come together.
    Top drawer, KB.

Why go to all the trouble to hide the coilovers in the rear, then have those bright yellow coils sticking right out front?

I love your quick wit. There will be a color change. Didn't want to paint them yet as I rekon there will be a spring rate change when all the other goodies are installed.

Oh by the way....serious thought given to hiding front suspension all together. But I got way down the road with mono leaf spring and hit a wall. 5" dropped axle, model A cross member, and a 9" deep Ardun oil pan got me in trouble. To maintain 4-5" ground to a bazillion dollar cast finned oil pan had to push the motor upwards while dropping the frame to get stance. Huh, then the monoleaf spring clamp crashed into the cross member. Urg. So abandoned the mono leaf. Then quarter eliptics, no, then sprint car torsion bars, no. A frame suspension ×π√÷% no.
Fall back to been there done that..I-beam, coilovers, split wish bones. Oh well......m

I need to post pics of the fiberglass monoleaf springs I used to make. They rode great and set extremely low.
    My supplier cut me off.

I'd ride on windbags before trusting another monoleaf...=Snap!= 1.5 years, then one morning? 2 blocks to the corner, =Snap!=
Surprised me, as the '55 F100 made a quick 'right'. But my lightning fast reflexes brought it back around...stopped, but...Had to back up all the way back to the house!

Chipping away...Rootlieb 2" extended hood fitted. Pleased
Hood sides in hand, fitting next. Lots more work in them since blisters for heads will be a challenge....till next time.. IMG_20190812_100741554.jpeg IMG_20190812_100500524.jpeg IMG_20190812_111224416.jpeg

I hate to see it but there may be trouble ahead, The sides will have to swing out to be raised due to the blisters. The shock towers will prevent this. I have blister side panels for my 32 roadster.
Maybe have fixed panels behind the shock mounts and let the rest move out and up???
Have you seen pics of Dick Smith's hemi roadster in the Ford Museum? He cut out his side panels to clear the covers.

You're ok with me. Original Henry body and interior, I mean original. Ardun, Winters quick change, wishbones, I beam axle, kinda a preservation, but with auto, air, electric leather buckets, a few other trickeries.
At 76 and all joints replaced plus a few other stitchie tattoos....I reckon a couple of soft touches are allowed......no.

Well done this before. Sides sit on pins in the frame, then held at top with button latches. (Kinda like a zues). Run with or without.
Top of hood is center hinged. Run with or without.
    No troubles.

When I initially saw the mock up of the rear coil overs, my first thought was "race inspired". I love the way you tucked them up and the quickchange keeps that traditional look. All part of that coloring book. This build in inspiring Sir and it makes me want to thrash even harder! But, can't go too hard, the body breaks down if I do..... Fine machine.....yes Sir!!!

    Love your build.

Actually, I won't. Sides/blisters will be an exercise. Hood tops held down by leather straps most of time.
The core/purpose of the build is to showcase/feature the Ardun in '32 Ford five window clothing in highboy form. (fenders?....in some form later).
The motor in its simplist form is the star. Nothing radical. Just plain jane...
The over all end product...not open check book high end...all the stuff is off shelf ready available catalogue items, pretty much bolt together, nothing radical.
I chose the original donor car cause l liked the color, (minimal paint, no body work), liked the interior, (ol school), (lots of $$ savings and huge time savings).
Net....done quickly (about 28 weeks clock time, about 9 month calendar time). At 76 time to ride is important. Plus I love to doing this stuff. Fun, fun....
