OK, let's just back up to the basics. Get the engine set back up to TDC on #1, timing marks on crank @ "0". I recomend using a compression tester & not "the finger method" you mentioned earlier. Next, pop the distributor cap off & see if the rotor lines up with the #1 tower on the cap. Be sure your firing order & wires are all where they need to be. I noticed that you said both timing gear marks were at 12 o'clock. TDC occurs when both timing gear marks are lined up together, meaning crank gear mark at 12 & cam gear mark at 6. Regardless of what took place, If you follow the procedure I just suggested, you will likely find the distributor needs to be reset.

You are regurgitating what's already been said over and over , biggest problem is it's only partially correct , please stop repeating bad information , Thank You.

First problem is that the distributor is on the wrong end of the engine, which makes it a PITA to work on- what were they thinking of lol. As several pics have been displayed from there, the best teaching tool for him would be to go on ebay and get an old Motor Manual which has copies of the factory manuals, and carefully explains the procedures and specs, with good pictures. Study carefully before doing anything, and work from there. Be careful who you listen to, and verify before doing anything. Learned a good lesson from my gramps early on, he owned an International dealership, truck fleet and several farms, to always look up and verify- as I was trying to time an IH V8- and they time on #8 lol...

Why is it that people think they can impose on someone for thier time and expertise and not feel any obligation to respond , makes you feel like not answering questions .......?
