  2. Any else notice that this looks like a 67 with the split widow added? 67 fender gills, no b pillar vents, rally wheels...
No 67 back up light tho

B1gDaddyI recognized the sticker in your photos when first viewing them. I enlarged the one where it shows best to confirm it was a ARE magnesium sticker. Like you I wouldn't have disturbed it or them.

I did notice the black painted spokes. I can't speak with confidence about that. I suspect you may be right about the possibility of a second day finish. A I don't know for a certainty but I have been lead to believe paint on magnesium is a problem as it may hold in moisture which speeds deterioration.

Why would they put a split window section into a racer back then? I would think more vision is better. Maybe it is a 63 that had a new front doghouse put on it after a wreck?

A bad pic is better than none at all. Those old Instamatic shots can be the armpits of
photography but I'd rather look through a stack of them than the highest quality
magazine with the best possible photographs. There's just something about looking at
the types of cars we were seeing everyday at high school, on the way to work or at our
favorite hang out. It's fun trying to clean them up.

B1gDaddy: that’s one seriously cool Vette. Near as I know American magnesium’s never came painted from the factory. Were your centers drilled for caps? Most competition wheels were not. As far as paint hurting them, this pair has had shitty paint on them for at least 40 years, with no ill effect . 4CBA0910-0511-4787-B5EB-CA625D80E258.jpeg 84C1600E-1FF7-4A48-8561-A4A0501D186A.jpeg

  9. That makes sense but the B pillar vents aren’t there, so there was definitely some Frankenstein stuff going on.

  10. That’s a good start for a hot rod.

I would love to find a platform like that to build. Looks like an old hot rod put away for years. Great for a period correct build with vintage go fast goodies.

I talked to a guy yesterday that was with my dad when he bought my corvette in the mid 70s.
He told me that they went and looked at a 61 earlier in the day for 1200.00 but it didn't drive anywhere near as well as the 66. Then he paid the 2200.00 for the 66 that I have now:)

  15. He traded in a 2 year old Ford for a 5 year old Chevy! It was a red Starliner 2door hard top

Loveoftiki, you posted the yellow 62 that was owned and raced by Jim Roberts. I believe it was a Michigan car that ran a 302 and believe it survives. Do you or anyone knows the whereabouts or present owner of the car?
