    @chevy57dude
    Glad you liked the '57. It was for sale for a ton of money. The "woody" was nice but the surfboards did look sort of strange here in the Sonoran Desert.

    I finally got the new owner of this car to come get it out of Papaw’s barn. He had been having problems getting it since February.

    Just moving it across the parking lot, it was pulling the front wheels. Anything above idle and holding the brakes, it lifts the front end.

    Spotted an old garage and filling station on my way home yesterday. Looked like a nice photo opportunity.

    Hello,

    In a recent Cars and Coffee event, I saw a Pontiac with these custom finned wheels. Then, I remembered that back in early June, I was walking back to my car from a meeting at the revised Lions Dragstrip Museum set up days. As I walked through the rows of cars in the Price Transfer Automobilia area, I saw one wheel that stuck out. I had not seen those stock Ponitac 8 lug finned wheels since our high school days.

    One of my friends had just purchased a new, blue 1961 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door that had these unusual finned aluminum wheels. Then within a week or so, another friend’s dad bought a new 4 door Bonneville model for his family, that had those same aluminum wheels as an option.

    Those wheels were very unusual with the different lug patterns and configurations. But, were for Pontiacs only.

    We were trying to figure out how we could get those wheels on the 58 Impala that would not cost an arm and leg. Laying those Pontiac aluminum wheels against the 58 Impala wheel well was an outstanding custom touch.

    We tried talking to the famous, Henry’s Machine Shop, but the cost was more than we could afford. That shop was the Bixby Knolls “go to place” for all things machining and especially axles and hubs. (two years later, Henry’s machined the Impala axles and hubs for a Buick bolt pattern and the new Skylark wire wheels.)

    Are these the ones on the corner SW of Miami, OK, on old Rt. 66? They've been there a long time.
