This was found in the inspection cover of a 41 Cadillac clutch/bell housing. It's .050 thick and upon close examination seems to be manufactured and not simply broken in 2. Can anyone experienced in such stuff settle my case of WTF? Thanks in advance...

It's in 2 pcs and shown for size.

Squirrel, thank you very much. Makes a light bulb glow in my head although a bit dim, he is having a starter issue now and then. Hmmm...

I think it's from a previous starter drive, but I could be wrong.

He said the same thing, might have been in there a while, but it sure looked clean to me. He said it had some dried grase on it but couldn't raise a rt hand to it either way. His starter issue is slow when warm even with a full charged battery. I'm advising bad ground. Restored car, everything painted pretty, etc.
