Projects 1952 Chevy custom first full build

Newish to the H.A.M.B.. I’ve been building a 52 Chevy and wanted to share the build. It’s my first custom. Started with lowering car then wanted to stretch front end. So I started splicing in a 56 olds front end. Then wanted to pancake hood. So I took a 49 Buick hood and modified it to fit the new profile of the car.
After working that out I decided the car looked a little heavy decided to section the car 2”. And wanted to change the roofline so swapped it to a fast back.
Moving day came and was time to move into new shop

After settling into new shop continued finishing up the section.
Next I wanted to continue to take design elements from 50’s Buick’s. I took a fender from a 50 Buick and made them into bubble skirts.
Then I’ve moved onto the rear bumper using a 1959 imperial rear bumper turned upside down and chipped about 15”
In the middle of fabricating grill for the inside of the bumper. And that’s the progress right now.

Well... I started by lowering the car.
Then I decided to do a little more...

... sliced, diced, cut, welded, sculpted...

Moved...
New house, new shop...

Ended world hunger
Helped the world find peace
Rearranged the stars
Harnessed the power of the planets

And that's my progress so far.

so, in your spare time (?) are you going to chop the new roof?

 

What an amazing job you are doing. I have the 49 Buick you are taking parts from. I love the section and fastback roof. Please keep posting updates.

Thanks for all the kind words. Once I finish the rear bumper back to the roof I already took a 1 1/2” out of the a pillar. Nit sure how much out of the rear? Imagine once i like it. Toying with taillights in the bumper and just continuing to smooth out fender. If anybody has a lead on a 51-52 hardtop donor car?looking for the doors. Again thank you all for the encouragement!!! I’ll post progress real soon

Dude...just make the doors. There has to be some flat sheet metal laying around...duh. Just kidding of course. You had me at...I didnt like the coupe roof so I switched it for a fastback. Awesome skills...car looks great already..

Also...those skirts are AWESOME.

Whoooo! And here i would have been happy seeing any '49-52! Impressive work, great eye for whats going to look proportionate and cool and great imagination! Definitely following along with this one!

Whoa didn’t see that coming!!! Go man go!!!! I like where this is headed.

 

When you extended the front end, I can understand the front fenders and hood but did you extend the frame also. How much did you extend the front end by. I like the way you metal finish the welds as you went. Thanks for the posting.
