I agree, and since he was a rep either the NSRA or he should be responsible for a proper repair to the owners satisfaction.

A couple of ways to look at that. I understand and respect the idea to keep the show all traditional and they still need to be more strict on some of the cars and trucks entering the gate. At the same time, I was raised around MoPar muscle and was a Vette and Musclecar guy only for ever, especially the MoPar stuff. Years ago I met another MoPar guy that was an old hot rodder and through him I have become a hot rod fanatic and plan to build one in the future. I worked on several with him including a real 32 Ford with a flat head which was a true traditional build and I loved his incredible 32 Chrysler Street Rod. The guy was a master restoration and street rod guy that could build anything, never missed the NSRA shows (RIP Larry). Over the years I have been attending more and more hot rod shows and mixed shows and paying attention to the Rods, maybe the exposure of Hot Rods to some of the guys driving in a Hemi Cuda will inspire them the same as it did me and keep the hobby alive; if not them maybe the kids they have in tow with them. I loved the show, nice mix of Hot Rods, Customs and Muscle Cars and I agree the Suburbans and late model pickup trucks really don’t belong.

I agree 100% that man should not be a NSRA state rep. He should be removed immediately

There were two nicely restored Toyota Land Cruisers, several nicely built early Broncos, at least two 911 Porsches, a couple of 356 Porsches and at least one 240Z. In addition I counted several severely jacked up 4X4 pickups, 3-4 Dune Buggies plus assorted Blazers, Jimmy's and an International Scout. A couple of my favorites were two early 70s chevy pickups, obviously simply work trucks, one had a giant toolbox in the bed the other was carrying a camper shell.
Most all of these cars were well done and I have owned a couple of similar cars but they are not Street Rods... period.
I clearly understand that NSRA is a "for profit" business but they could run the same numbers by cutting off at 1964, like MSRA at Back to the Fifties

Thanks for all the pictures, wish I could have been there. Just built a new garage and just didn't have the money to go this year.

  6. I believe they have lost a lot of long time supporters with the 30 year cut off than what they gained be they will never look back, It's all about the dollars and it doesn't matter any more.

Had the nsra subscribed to the 64 and earlier like here on the hamb I believe the numbers would have been as much if not more, personally I think the event has gotten too big, the traffic from what I heard was insane. HRP

  7. Thanks for the pics, especially the swap meet stuff. I'm an addict.

  8. .....................Any interest in your Roadster during the event?

The only insane part was sitting on an onramp for 1-1/2 hours while they funneled nearly 13,000 cars through one gate. There was no police presence and they relied on one stoplight to control the access to the one gate. They were also allowing "civilian" cars close-in on the access roads which only increased the confusion. Of course this is my personal opinion and there may be more of you that enjoy that sort of thing or feel like the show is worth the misery. For me it's not and it was my last nationals. (not that anyone in the organization cares but I like making grand futile gestures.

You said it in a nut shell 41 Woodie! I thought maybe they should change it to Scooter Nationals.

I know that they lost a lot of members over the 30 year rule they had a complete club from Illinois pull out after they did that, and I’m sure there are others too

NSRA has that traffic problem every year and they still won't fix it. Add another 5000 cars , now what do you have. There are other exits to the fairgrounds but they won't open them. They need to limit the mobility scooter to real handicap people. That will probably be my last year at Louisville.

  20. Had to cancel at the last minute, after a lot of work and stress. Still pissed!
Next plan is to take it to Shades of the Past next month. I've got my eye on a running 40.

  21. Yep, that one entrance thing has been a PITA as long as I've been going! And complaints fall on deaf ears. It's not like they're taking admission, just looking at passes. WTF, Vernon?!!!

Louisville was the "Great cooling system and suspension check" event of the year! If it didn't fall off on 65 or blow over on the ramp you passed the test!

Their traffic scheme inside was the big problem with flow. Yup, 90 minutes on the ramp, too many civilian cars mixed in

  25. ................Sorry. Hope you're doing better by now. Good luck at Shades. And as you pursue that '40.

Spent Friday and Sat. at the Nats. After attending the LARS this year and finding myself sitting as much as I was walking I came to the conclusion that I needed to resolve myself to using a mobility scooter. I was reluctant to go that way but my ticker with the new defibrillator/pacemaker was telling me what to do. I was embarrassed to be part of the scooter crowd in Louisville. Seeing some of the abuse of the use of scooters made me wish I'd stayed home. The mini motorcycles, two passenger carts and other questionable carts left the legitimate scooter user in the minority. I can't believe NSRA will not address this abuse of the system? As for the nationals I had the best time I've had in years. Spent all day Friday in the building talking to vendors and all day Sat. cruising the outside grounds. Had I not had my scooter I wouldn't have seen half of what I did get to see. A special thanks to the people who were courteous to people like me on a scooter, I also tried to respect their space as well. Thanks to the NSRA for putting on a great show.
