I have a 1yr old little girl, I can not wait to create her little gear head soul and make her a tinkerer. however she will be taught the proper way to go to car shows, not to touch, look only, hands to her self, do not step on vehicle side steps. etc.... I recently took my car to the local Car's and Coffee and seen a Dad with his 3 kids.

because my car sits higher and the kid could not see inside and the dad would not pick him up to show him, the kid took it upon himself to grab the window seal and step on the side steps. I watched with MUCH ANGER as I had just spent 30 minutes the previous night putting lotion on the ruber and getting it all nice and black. I was forced to yell out "Get off my car, do not touch the car's". as much as I hated doing it, the father should have done this prior and should teach the child to not touch others classic rides.

I have been there man. I got to a show went up to the registration tent to register and when I got back to my car here's this small kid sitting on my Model A front fender with mom taking pictures. The kid was too small to climb up there on its own so Mom plopped her up there. We'll needless to say I went Bozo. Mom says "I told her not to climb up there. Darn Kids" and strolled off. I was sick to my stomach all day. I never left my spot and after a hour and a half maybe 2 hours I packed it up and left and won't ever go back.

To any of the club officials or DJ's out there could you please politely announce reminders every so often to "please respect the show car owners vehicles. Look but don't touch without permission. I will not ever attend that show again. It's not because of the club, it's because of the memory of that event.

Who doesn't love a pretty girl in her fine looking dress in front of a Gasser Studebaker. The young family had walked into the show at the same time I did and she was posing for her mom at the time.
The little guys with the street rod 34 were very well behaved and were really studying the cars as they went down the row. I think that one may have been their favorite.
third one is my daughter now 38 years old at the Chevy GMC truckin Nationals in Ogden in 1982 after she hollered (take my picture dad!"
Last is my son in front of my Merc in 1988 at the Puyallup Goodguys. That was a week before I took the kids back to their mom in Texas in the Merc and then went on to Bonneville. IMG_5366.JPG IMG_5474 - Copy.JPG Kerri and the 48 2.jpg Matt with 51.jpg

I saw about 200 grade school kids converge on a beautiful black 30 Model A Sedan like it was a jungle gym. The dumbass teachers just stood there like they were at the playground.

    Not cute.

...I saw this little kid looking at the car and was thinking of the next generation and Hotrods discussions...So as I was snapping a pic to share she started bouncing up and down like a pogo stick to see inside...:D...and as luck would have it I captured her Airborne, Her Ma came over and lifted her up to have a look as she wasn't achieving her goal...that was a priceless moment that day...;)

  19. I like this thread. I'm not so much worried about kids at shows. I drive my Hot Rods to Wal-Mart, Church, Parks, and lots of playgrounds. So not to worried about the kids. I worry more about the crazy drivers on the roads getting there. My old rods started out as basket cases. And yeah, they need repairs, and even a rebuild ever so often. But I do, and try to teach the kids to respect other people's property. Hay old cars are just toys. So I just play with them. lol RON.... 20190623_184651.jpeg 20190621_052329.jpeg 20190530_095031.jpeg 20190205_134327.jpeg 20190205_133407.jpeg

Of my sons, only 4 out of 6 are hot rod minded, 2 have '55 F100s; (like mine)
One more has 911 Porsches/harley Davidson, another has Corvairs.
God help some of the Grandchildren!
