Bought this pile a couple of weeks ago would like to turn it into this should only take me about ten years
That deck lid is almost impossible to find as are the doors...at least you have one of them. I really like your idea for a build. Going to keep it Mopar powered???
Got a line on a door I did purchase some similar doors at the same auction that I could make work.I have a fast four and a Plymouth six that may find a home in this. After I found this picture I was really stoked on the possibilitys of this project.
Hey Burl, my son gave you my contact info from the post you made on facebook! I just happened to run across your post here tonight. Like Doug says, yeah I have parts. Dave
What kind of trunk lid props does it have? steel scissor type or a full width forged U shaped bar that the ends run in tracks on the body? The forged bar is earlier. Dave
OMG, drop a flat six in there and some netting for doors and lets go racing! I love this style of build, following.
The scissor type is the later style. Those were used on several different but similar looking lids through 1925. 1926 was a new much smaller conventional lid. Before 1924 coupes and roadsters had different lids. 1916 through 1923 roadsters used basically the same lid. Coupes changed 2 or 3 times during that time frame and were different than roadsters. I don't remember exactly when they went from the full width forged U shape prop to the 2 scissor props but it was somewhere around 1919? Dave
I have a flat six but I really don't want to change the wheel base have a froze up fast four as well need to decide what direction on this soon
Burl, if you cannot find doors I could see one option being to mold in the door openings smooth or shaping some dummy door panels that are welded shut. Then you could run the exhaust right up the side! I think a louvered deck lid could be totally wicked. Either way cool roadster, I'm excited to see where this goes
A friend of mine is using a 251 chrysler 6 in his model a jalopy build. I don't think he changed the wheelbase. Just cut out the firewall more
