Thanks, I’d like to take the credit for coming up with it, but I didn’t. It functions nicely. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I’m glad you are making the cowl wood pieces yourself. The pieces I got from the place in Utah were made incorrectly. All of the holes in the bottom had to be redone. The front to back holes were in the wrong spot and The nut holes for the inboard L brackets were counterbored on the wrong side. Pretty disappointing. There are countersink on both sides, but the internal ones are only for countersinking the back of the a-pillar bracket so it sits flat. Yours don’t seem to have the rebate for the a-pillar bracket Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You are correct, I plugged the holes because they were 1/2” deep and I still need to countersink them for the brace Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
More shaping on a-pullers I noticed an extra hole in the firewall Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow ! What kind of furniture polish are you going to use ? As a contractor, I'm digging the hell, out of your dad's woodworking prowess. You should see the fools I work with. Beautiful work !
Nice work! Some day I'll start on my phaeton. Any chance you are making paper patterns available for those wood pieces to sell to those shlubs like me who don't have any original pieces??? Please???
Thanks, unfortunately I don’t think paper patterns would do it. The A-pillars have some crazy rolling bevels. I would recommend Brads Wood shop tel:360-317-5723 Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wish I had done this a week ago... but it will be good for the metal work and storage Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Offered the passenger door up to fit the cowl patch panel Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Since this is an Australian cowl, in addition to the patch panels I had to make a piece to extend the door edge tins down to cover the new radius of the door opening. The modified with Australian next to it Both sides tacked, need to get some argon tomorrow and weld everything up. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
