I’ve looked but can’t find what discard would be on turning 39 wide 5 drums ? Any help would be great guys. Thanks
How far can you safely turn wide 5 drums on a brake lathe? There should be a discard/throw away Number ? Mine have some fairly deep ridge lines
I believe that 'magic number' even then was .060". But I've measured some that were .125"...and still going. Er, make that...stopping.
I am nervous the shop turning the drums doesn't know. Do they know how to turn the drums? I heard about a shop that beat the studs out with a big hammer and then turned the drums. After they finished destroying the hubs and drums the had the nerve to bill the customer. If you need a shop to turn the drums call these guys, M&D auto Parts, (310) 559-1134. If "The Other Ontario Ca" is Canada and not California you can ignore my post. Charlie Stephens
Reminds me when my rear brakes started to leak on my OT dually truck. When I pulled the rear hubs, I found some asshole had turned the drums too far down and when the brake shoes wore down to half life, the cylinders pushed out of the end. He must have been too cheap to buy new drums.
