Pretty interesting no one mentions balancing them, but there sure are a lot of threads bitching how bad certain tires make their car shake. Any correlation?

  2. It's a VHT rattle can paint with clear on top. Called "burnt copper" part #sp402

Put a couple coats on this am... looks pretty good. Sprayed the back side yesterday. Wheels weren't as nice to begin with as I thought and this sucker isnt getting bodywork done to the wheels so pits are there to stay... actually flowed out really well though. Hope the paint hardens up as well as the last time I used it. Did up a honda minitrail with it and it dried up like a rock. 20190803_105933.jpeg 20190803_093818.jpeg

Well I must be a picky-asshole-detail freak or conversely, all out of fucks to give. I take wheels that are either painted, powdered or new chrome and just put the tires on. I have a trusty set of axe handles and a spray bottle of soap water, work on an old moving blanket, after 2 "motherfucker" and a couple seasonings of "son-of-a-bitch" the tires and tubes are ready for use on the most valuable of cars with no ill effects. Too easy? Too hard? Not rocket science (hey, is there and echo in here)?

But seriously folks, Packards of all types, just whipped up a set of 6 for an Auburn Speedster, even a J Duesy, just mount the damn things and don't look back. Now if you're gonna drive the shit year-round in like Detroit or Buffalo y'all's on your own but for a pampered hot rod or classic I can't see giving any extra, what was it again? Oh yeah, fucks. Carry on...

I painted my wheels first, let them dry for a few days and mounted them using an old coats 10/10 machine my buddy at work has.

I use Rustoleum appliance epoxy. It’s an enamel paint and takes a good beating.

Checked the paint this morning and it is hard as a rock. Guess I will wait a couple more days and go out with a spray bottle, moving blanket and the one tire iron i have and wrap it with tape.

Had some time last night and they went on very easy. 3 of four are done when I found the valve stem was torn on the last tube. Only used the one tire iron which was fine. 48363.jpeg

All four now done. ended up that both tubes for the front were junk so I had my ten year old help me this morning to finished them up with the new tubes. All were pretty easy with no real damage to the paint. 48644.jpeg 48643.jpeg 48642.jpeg

Testing spray pattern on the door of the roadster?

Also doing a set of 40's wheels myself. Spending way to much time priming, filling pits and sanding, repeat. But that's just how I have to do it.

I have a portable 10 gallon sandblaster, hate it but use it. My Coates mechanical 'toadstool' tire changer works best with the two 30" tire tools from Harbor Freight.
(Don't like the prying over the center shaft with the Coates tool...Rough on tire beads, and wants to scratch my nice early Ford wheels, both V8 spoke and solid steel types)
Harbor Fr. tire tools are flat forgings, with slight bends at ends, shiny plated, smooooth.
Bargain priced, I use them for many gentle 'pryings'...They're like the motorcycle tools, only longer and 'tougher'.
