Finding the fender portion to go with the rings seems to be an impossible task so I’m curious to see what other guys have done to mold ‘56 olds rings into they customs. I’d like to do some on my ‘54 Chevy. (If it’s been talked about to death, just link me to the articles and I’ll be on my way) Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Put some sheet metal against the back of the headlight bezels. Mark, and cut out. Place this against the bezels again, and place bezels on the headlight on the car. Fill in the gaps with more sheet metal! You'll have to make a peak on the fender for the Olds headlights, too.
Store em in a cool, damp and dark area. They might get mold then... Sometimes I just can't help myself But seriously, plop a couple pics up of what you wanna do. chopolds is steering you right in general terms but let's see whatcha got.
Chop Olds has you pointed in the right direction. One thing you might want to do though, is tape the ring on the fender along with some paper to visualize how the line along the top of fender is going to look. The '56 Olds headlight ring is taller on the top than the Chevy ring and you probably don't want to end up with the fender line going up towards the headlight if that makes any sense. You may have to drop the headlight in the fender a little to have a nice flow. Not for sure you will, but better to check on the front end.
drdave nailed it..... A mock up is always the best way to determine flow and fit. Poster board and tape are cheap. Torchie
