That's great, they're doing a fantastic job. It's so instantly recognizable. Looks nearly done too.

Incredible, I recall seeing Franco’s version in Oakland in 1987 @ the GNRS. IMHO = Spot On!!!!!
This is really something seeing this coming together as when I’d see Norm, I’d always feel that the “Kookie Kar” should be “NORMalized”.
    Great Job Brizio Boys!!!!!!!!

Who says 4-Bar Wishbones are a 70’s period thing? ;). This is an old tried and true method of front suspension pirated from Sprint car racing tech.
Both Norm & Ivo ran this type of suspension so if it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me by way of Pete& Jake’s :).

The original '56 KDJ 004 plate just slays me...Attention to detail!

Was the license plate with the car when it was 'won' in the auction???

Unfortunately an agreement was not reached with Edd Byrnes to be reunited at Peeble Beach with the car that made him even cooler on the 77 Sunset Strip series 60 years ago . The car is available but he is not without compensation. We tried.
I will have the list of episodes he appeared on with the car before Peeble Beach. It is going to be spectacular to have the Kookie Kar on display again. The ONLY thing that could make it better is Kookie Burns being photographed with it. A big loss for those of us who idolized him when we were young and influential. But it is an even bigger loss for him.

Thanks for the update Frank. It is indeed unfortunate that the two will not be reunited at what will no doubt be monumental reveal.

  24. Aw Edd, you've lost lots of your koolness, daddio!! If you need some greenbacks, I understand, man. But, take a stack of your promo pix to the show and sign your John Henry. You'll sell a million of 'em!

  25. Damn. Thought his son was a news anchor, somewhere ? & isn't Edd Burns a millionaire ? He's gotta' be close to 90. You'd think he'd wanna' revisit that car restored ... and the days of lead in his pencil. Oh well ... I guess. Wowsers.

He is 85, in good health and still busy with personal appearances and his son is a San Diego TV personality. Apparently neither one understands the boost in personal appearances a reunion with the car at glamorous Pebble Beach would create. And his son has the ability to make a national celebrity story out of it. Oh well, like I said we tried.

I'd guess that offering merch at Pebble Beach is highly regulated (can't do it w/o permission that isn't coming). I haven't attended, so I don't know what kind of booths/tents/tables they allow and where. I doubt it's anywhere near the greens.
This map (pdf) does not show any sales area nearby, except event stuff and beverages.

Shame that this isn't going to happen, but it means that the car is THE star!

It's Norms car..... The truly sad thing is the fact that he is gone and can't see it at Pebble Beach.
