what is the deal with small blocks with powerglide? when I built my 59 I took the powerglide out and replaced with a 3 speed th350. thought it was the correct thing to do, definitely nice on the fwy now. but when I took the powerglide out I thought I couldn't even give the thing away since everyone I know wants higher speed trannys. but when I took out and posted powerglide for sale, the calls went on for days and I sold it for same price as the 350 trannys were selling. I even told the guy buying it theres 350s online for same price he said noo I want this one. why are they desireable?

Did you make the body mounts, or were you able to purchase them somewhere?

  7. We made the body mounts, few bends actually fairly simple.

As for the powerglides, they are simple and reliable. And cheap to rebuild!

Don't see too many Jag rears in a Henry J that's for sure.

  11. Damn I have been slacking on updating this thread. We moved two months ago to a new house and are finally getting back to being organized. I will work on posting some new pictures.

And i just realized that the guy i had powder coat the calipers for the jag rear is the one that got fired at my work and is now incommunicado, hope i can get ahold of him to get those back

Both powerglide and the 350 have the same 1:1 in drive so there is no difference at highway speeds. The 350 just adds 1 gear before drive.

Lots of people run them in drag cars and dirt track cars so I’d assume when they are done with them they are less than rebuildable. Those are probably the people who were calling

  22. I love powerglides they are simple and dirt cheap to rebuild.

  24. Got the frame back from the sand blasters/ had them epoxy prime it also. Don’t mind the water spots on it. It turned out really well!

  28. Well the crossmember is basically done. I have the half shafts and lower control arms out being shortened by 3.5” inches

  29. I used a Volvo 240 Rear (think mini Dana) and AMC disks up front on the one I had in HS. The disks were an old 70s trick, they use bolt on spindle snouts
