Looks to be the Sampson 500 entry; maybe in 1946? Is that a young Sam Hanks standing at the back? Thanks, Rootie.

# 8 Elmer George back on July 18 , 1954 in a Sprint Car Race at Salem Indiana Driver ? with wife, A comment about the "Lucky Dime" he's holding was with picture. Anybody know the story that goes with the " Lucky Dime"
Under the skin of the famous Bellanger #99 Kurtis at Indianapolis in '50. George Salih, Tony Bettenhausen and Merrell Bellanger are probably up to some advertising with the Mobil hats. Bettenhausen finished 31st in the Blue Crown Special. # 56 is the car that Rookie, Jim Hurtubise had the fastest time at Indy on the 3rd day of Time Trials and ALMOST hit 150 MPH, 1960, I was there with my Dad, have pic's somewhere I took with Mom's faithful Brownie camera. Outstanding paint IMO. Another outstanding paint design, Parnelli Jones Indy winner 1963
Wicarnut, the 56 was truly beautiful. The previous year it was Green. Had a fatal accident at Milwaukee.
Interesting question. IH made just about everything but I don't recall ever seeing a IH SWB pickup. FYI in the early episodes of Friends the refrigerator in Monica's apartment is an International Harvester. You might notice it if you can look past Jennifer Aniston for a minute. They also made washing machines.
