I have a 29 sedan deciding if I should chop it of just Chanel it a few inches. The body is mint might be too good to chop. Does anyone have pics of a unchopped sedan hot rod? Thanks
If you're asking for an opinion? I don't think a model A can be to good to chop. Also why wouldn't it be to good to channel then also. I can only give you a picture of my sedan. It has a 6 inch chop. I like chopped Hot Rods. But build it the way you like. Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You can "Google" 1929 Ford sedan hot rod, click on "Images" it will take you to probably 300+ pictures of sedans. Clicking on a picture will allow you to search more detail by clicking "Visit". Hope this will help you.
There is a post here on HAMB that may photo shop what your looking for. Here's the link, hope it helps! https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...otoshop-threads.300531/page-780#post-13082605
I'm putting a roller together for a buddy of mine who's around 6'5" 250# and we determined that chopping wasn't really an option for him. We could get away with channeling it, but leaving it an unchopped fenderless high-boy has its own appeal to us (as well as getting him on the road a bit easier). I would suggest you play around with the stance of the car first and then decide what you want to do, if anything, to the body, to get the look that flips your switch with that car.
If I would ever build a Model A, this is the one I would try to emulate. A good friend of mine says all you need is the right wheels and stance. I think this proves it.
Photoshopped. Cat is way too small in context of the bird. And the cat would have the same shadow as the birds head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have to agree, 28- 29 sedans look pretty cool full fendered, and not chopped. But with the right stance. I know it's a delivery, but I like the wheels tucked up in those 28- 29 fenders.
I prefer unchopped, but I also say build it to suit you. I would offer these thoughts tho….If you want a chopped top, use an aftermarket body (they don't make original ones anymore) and if you think you would ever sell it, unchopped cars arguably have better resale value.
I'll cast my vote for stock top also. HRP Ron Browns is a prime example of left along and the right stance. HRP
"Anybody can restore an antique but it takes a real man to cut one up." Come on now. Get to it. Chop Chop... Just kidding. Do what you think is right.
I vote 25% window to 75% body proportions for most cases. No car is too good of condition to look better. I am a hotrod and customs guy.
I vote for the knife! Hack it, whack it, chop it and drop it!! U a hot rodder or a restorer?! If u dont, most people think it's just another"old car"!
Here is an in progress '40s style un-chopped A sedan. I is channeled 3.5" (give or take). The top pic is a photoshop of the direction it is headed.
Every time I hear about someone talking about chipping their car, I think of this picture now. Either way, that picture with the photoshopped chop looks nice. It's crazy how much that changes the look of the car Sent from my SM-G950U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
