I only went for a short blast around the area, but was a whole bunch of fun.
Its based on a 1971 VW Beetle, so slightly off the JJ window.
I built it the 'proper' way with plaster/vermiculite.

Apparently this version of the Predicta was photographed and measured by Monogram for starting work on a model kit then the car was sent back to Starbird for modifications that would be included on the model kit before it went into production. It's a complicated story. For details on this and nearly everything else about the car and the models see http://thepredictaproject.org/history-of-the-car/ .

Anybody watching the Bubbletop build on Full Custom Garage? They showed how Ian formed the bubble, his method was low tech but it turned out cool as hell. If you're interested, watch for the re-runs on Motor Trend TV

  15. Digging into the Peterson Museum archives I found these priceless pictures of Ed Roth with the Beatnik Bandit and the Rotar, all of which I had never seen before. I love all the paintings on the walls and things hanging in the background.

I just stumbled across a picture of this car at the '66 Oakland Roadster show and thought it belonged here. I didn't see this photo already posted.

"The famous 1956 Continental Classic, a Lincoln Mark-II bubble top, featured headstone bucket seats covered in snappy white pleated upholstery. It was apparently built for TV personality Alex Dreier. The body was splashed in metallic gold paintwork and featured a radically restyled nose, Mercedes grille, frenched quad Lucas headlights, and custom wheels. It was built by Lee Wells, Jack McKay and Gary Lee. Junior Conway put on the final color coat. This car has recently been restored."
