Once you get past the welds
Look at the spring rubbing and the scrub line.
I can only imagine what contraption is used for the tie rod
The quality of the trucks thay had pictured look good. But I don’t understand this.
I have thought of building my own drop beams but was thinking about water jetting a set out of solid steel then machine the holes. But honestly there is just so much you can do with this design of a front end

Fabricated axles work fine,,, however those are fabricated better than this example.

The point of this thread was to show how guys did it with limited tools and money, and making due with what you had.

Necessity is the mother of invention and although it was a crude attempt it sufficed long enough for my fatherinlaw to get the car home from a fishing trip out of state in the late 60's.

I removed a barn door hinge and made a make shift gas peddle. HRP

 

OT vehicle but just an example of what I ran across trying to help a neighbor. He said the front end wobbled.

I had a book that showed "boxed" connecting rods. It also showed filled axles. Published in about 1967 give or take, by Hot Rod magazine. State of the art?

 

That "Goofy" car looks like a baby that is having a hard time filling it´s diapers.

 

A little pink or red blushing around the grille and headlights would compliment that impression even more....

 

These are not the ones I had who would think more then one person would make them.
The man who had them said they came out of Buzzie Reutimann's shop.

 

The barn find is crude and awesome at the same time. Wish I had it. The other one not so much.

 

This is from one of my favorite late 50s early 60s Model A coupes (Maratta Missile).

Looks like Frank used leaf spring ends, cut and and bent, to make spring perches.
