Folks Of Interest Anybody that reaches 50,000 posts needs to take a break

Only 45,409 to go! Unless of course you count deleted ones, than I'm on the home stretch......

 

I have 45,473 to go....oops, now it's only 45,472. I do need to spend more time in the shop though. My post "read" count is WAY the heck up there!

At the moment he is just 25296 ahead of me. I'm not going to pick on him as there were months were that was about all he could do and at least he didn't slide off the face of the earth like some have.
I've slowed way down since I retired and don't have stretches of blank time after the things I had to do job wise were done. Meaning I need to get out and get the stealth car ready to go to Victoria since the project car is still a unfinished project.

 

I'm not picking on him either. I really enjoy the top three guy's posts.

My yearly average is 460, over the last 8-1/2 years. At that rate, I should be under the 50,000 number for at least 92 years.

 

Some folks are a lot more gabby than others. Since Squirrel has been a member for so long and has a high post count I will use him as an example, sorry Jim.

Jim has been a member for 5,408 days and his post count is 42,261 ( sounds like a lot) taking that into account his post count is only 7.8 per day. Hell that's not gabby. Mr48chevy is another guy with a high post count 24,694, but what is high really? Well he has been a member for 4,217 days and his post count is 5.8 per day. So once again not to gabby at all. Looks like post count may not determine a whole lot.

 

With Squirrel, most of his posts are answers to questions.
Not "Did you have a good shit today?" like some other.

 

Not that he doesn't care.

He's helped fix a lot of my stuff. And he's got 8k to go.

 

If someone is being polite and helpful - who cares? Wait — did you say 50,000?

 

This thread is aimed at someone in particular.
You guys should be able to figure it out

He’s one of the best guys on here and helps make the HAMB the great place it is today.

have nowhere near the 50K - I have "Alexa" handle my posts - Ha! just think, if this individual had put say 25 cents in a jar each time he posted something he would have enough $12,500 to buy another car with

 

I can't for the life of me remember ever seeing a site actively discouraging members from posting.

IF someone posts a lot of obnoxious meaningless posts ok maybe BUT if the threads get replies and discussion isn't that what the HAMB supposed to be? A place to enjoy Hot Rods and talking about them. IF the posts get replies and bring enjoyment to other members what is the problem.

The HAMB just keeps on rolling along long after other sites would have gone quiet and stale because nobody posts anymore they have said everything they wanted to say. But there is something FRESH on the HAMB everyday thanks to members that do post.

And advice like this will cause OTHER members to hesitate before posting and before you know it the HAMB lamp will get dimmer and dimmer until it flickers out.

I have been on this version of the HAMB a little over 18 years, but I was on the early versions also. At my current rate I will hit the 50,000 post mark in a little over 400 years from now. I think I will add that goal to my bucket list.

I do not care how many post anyone has. I am more interested in quality than quantity.

It is very easy to read to much into a statement or to over analyze a post. Sometimes you have to take a sentence for what it is.
