So after a couple of days of rubbing back and masking, she was reading to paint. I did a tracing of the numbers with the view that they would one day go back on.

Here's a number of shots of it in it's new color combination. The first three were taken at Port Fairy the weekend of Rita and Tony's eldest daughter ( Jodie's ) wedding to Brad.
The next is at the Drouin speedway and the last is at the picnic in '2000.

Hey Doug. Sorry I didn't mention your name. It was just couldn't remember your girlfriend's name and I thought it would be rude to mention yours and not hers.
I am glad you are enjoying this, it has been a very emotional journey for me now and I guess when it was all happening. At the end of the day this history will be the story of over half my life, that half being dominated with what I did with my 5 window.
Irish Mike thankyou for your reply. My parents were from Belfast, so I can relate to the Irish.

Well another year had past and the coupe was looking a bit different. We were once again off to Lake Gairdner, this would have been in 2001.

During the year Chuck Sharpe from California had shipped his C model engine out for us to fit to the race car. We did that and Chuck was with us to drive the race car out here and ended up with the class record, which I think still stands.
This was the last year the coupe and I would go to 'the salt'. Chris and Wayne would take the race car back again in 2002.

Some random shots I have just come across. First shot is my coupe with Alan Barton's roadster in Perth in '89. Next is at the picnic, maybe the second or third one. Next is down at San Remo. Last is a shot of my odometer, coming into Port Augusta on the way to 'the salt', in maybe '96. Garry was with me on that trip and was asking me if I had come across this shot.

In late 2000 the coupe was one of the hot rods that were a part of Jodie Cassar's wedding to brad. I followed Robbie down to Port Fairy. I can't remember a real lot about that weekend, but that is another story. I can honestly say I have never drank so much in one session again. The first shot is off the 2 proud mothers. Sorry no shots of the bride and bridal party. I got the real important shots of the hot rods involved.

Here's four more random shots. The first one is on the weekend at one of the vintage speedway meets at the Bendigo Showgrounds. Next is a shot looking up Rita and Tony's driveway. I don't know where the one with the coupe beside the pickup was taken. The last one is heading to Port Fairy via the Great Ocean Road.

I am surly enjoying your stroll down memory lane. Really chuckled at the slip on 2nd part 73...”3 window “. I could chronicle a similar timeline... if only I would have carried a camera, having had an on going saga with a certain coupe for the last 46 years. Cheers!

Whoops. I could just say I was seeing if you were paying attention, Bowie. But I won't because these days I have ( had ) one of each, which will be detailed a bit a little further in this 5W history.
They are pretty good ongoing sagas to have. Your 3W looks good.
    Thankypu for your contribution.
PS I did go back and edit the 3W whoopsy.

Six more random shots that I just came across in the long forgotten files. I am not sure when or where the first one was taken. But that is Kevin Parsons' '37 tudor in the background The second one was taken at the '89 nationals. The next was taken in San Remo. Then there is the side on shot taken down on the Mornington Peninsula. Then there is the one taken at one of the vintage speedway meets at the Bendigo showgrounds. The last one was taken at the picnic one year.

I originally did this history on my Facebook time line and this actual post was done on the day my niece ( Nikki ) turned 32, which was a couple for weeks ago. This series of shots was when I was in Perth in '89/'90, with Nikki featuring in a number of those shots. I am wondering where all those years have gone.

After running the 14" 5 spokes for many years I finally got a pair of front wheels I had always wanted. There is a long story regarding these wheels, but I won't go into it here. Suffice to say that the late Billy Musset made them happen. In these shots, that is a different set of 5 spokes than I usually ran on the rear.

The cars are what brings us all together, but the best part is the people and friendships we make through this common hot rod interest. Rita and Tony are very special friends of mine and my sister Margaret. I have got to see their children grow into fine adults and to have children of their own. Those very same children are often around when I stay with Rita and Tony. There has been many images taken over the years of the children with the hot rods. Here is two special ones that Renee' took and sent to me of her son ( SpencerT ) and my 5W.

Rita and Renee' did me a special Christmas gift a number of years ago. it was a quilt to fit a single bed. Some of the panels of the quilt were fabric prints of the two images shown here. Which Renee's had taken at one time.

Here's four random shots all taken at similar angles.
First is in our driveway, probably not long after I had finished painting and reassembling the coupe. Second I think is on the road to Broken hill in the Claire valley, coming home from 'the salt' in '90. The next one is in the scrub back at Mount Ive Station homestead in '93. Last one was taken at one of the John's Rod and Custom Picnics at Pakenham.

    Some more random shots.
The first is my coupe beside Jane Leech's coupe at the picnic, not sure of the year. Next was when I was in the process of painting it. The third was taken at one of the Slingshots Christmas picnics. The last is at 'the salt' one year. This shot always has the feel that it is a remote control toy cay; well in my mind at least.

In the last 13 years or so prior to me giving the coupe to Brendon ( around 18 months ago ), I never used it a real lot. Maybe going down to Port Fairy in it a couple of times and to the picnic a number of times.
I had been invited to a few of the reliability runs here in Victoria, but I had always declined those invites. Well in 2014 Tony got in my ear and said we really needed to go to one. So we did.
But first I would have to change the wheels on the coupe, to fit into the era that these events are directed at.
