Yesterday I took Brenda's Ranch Wagon back to my pal Dave's for him to sew up a seam that had started to come apart on the back of the drivers seat and within the hour he had the seam looking as good as new. On my way back home the temperature was fast approaching the upper 90's so I rolled up the window, reach over and flipped on the air only to hear a horrible screeching noise, It didn't take me but a few seconds to turn it of and continues on to the house sweating like a pig. I got the car in the shop and opened the hood, looked around and noticed the compressor belt was loose, it was to hot to mess with so I decided to let it cool of nut and fake car of a few other pojects in the garage. A few hours later the radiator was cool enough to lean on to reach over and pull on the belt, it was very lose and not turning the compressor, the adjustment had backed off and looking at it I had one of those aha moment's. When I was building the car for some unknown reason put a nut on the top adjustment bolt through the bracket and one on the bottom, the bottom bolt served no purpose at all and the top nut vibrated loose, why it waited 7 years to cause a problem is beyond me,. The fix was as simple as removing the bottom nut and pulling the bolt out of the hols then running the nut and dropping it back in place, in essence I now have what should have been done in the first place, jam nuts. Cranked the car up and the air worked flawlessly, the Queen of Visa can now be cool when she drive her wagon the next time. HRP
HOT NUTS...get em at the peanut stand If you’re old enough to remember that great college band in the Carolinas, then you’re really OLD.
I my be getting old but at least I remember the words to Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts song. Nut's,hot nut's ya get them from the peanut MAN. ( not stand )_HRP
Me thinks unless you have referred to her the nickname " Queen of Visa " a few times , and she reads this , she maybe become the " Queen of the rolling pin "
So it was an electrical problem after all. Loose connection between the steering wheel and the seat. Glad it was that simple.
Brenda is driving the wagon today and told me the air is working perfectly, it's 92 degrees and you can cut the humidity with a knife! HRP
Good fix! I like to put a star type lock washer between the two nuts. But that's just me! https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...A8E517F956FE94A6F007A8E517F956FE&&FORM=VRDGAR
