Hot Rods Is there a thread about ole school flames?

I really dig the very first flame jobs done in the late forties early fifty the ones that I call sclames sort of a mixture of a scallop and a flame. I did a search but didn't really find anything. So if ya have some pictures post them up.

 

I too would be interested...love the old style flames..do BTT

 

Hell I thought this was about old flames, just a bunch of old women now.

I just recieved my Street Rodder mag and it has a great article on flames how to.

 

Funny, my 40th High School Reunion was tonight, but since I stayed home, I didn't see any ole school flames. It was probably for the best that I didn't go.

 

Dale's (@curbspeed) coupe has some pretty bad ass old school flames.

Here is the hood on a '49 Chevy I did a few years back...as well as the inside of the roof..

Kinda ole school, definitely traditional!

 

A flame job on an Olds by our very own @wbrw32 in the pits at Bakersfield in 1959, along with Garlits' flames.

 

I'm still on the fence about doing flames on the single seater. Stogie did this photo shop version many moons ago.

 

Renault Dauphine built a lot of these between 1956 an 1967 all the same body. I think each one was made from one 6 pack of old beer cans. Very lite race car for sure I won a ton of races. All my race cars I painted flames on,one I even painted a Dragon on right side of hood that blow flames around the racer. But I had to stop doing that,my fellow racers kept trying to kill the darn Dragon !!! I've always ended my race car flames in yellow=they show up way better under race track lighting that way,very few even take note of color at tip of flame,yet it makes them show up far better.
