  4. Are those stubs the brake and clutch pedals?

  5. I wondered what those are too. Not the pedals, they are on the other side of the column. I lightened this photo to see.

...can you imagine just for a minute that these two fellas drove by each other...they'd probably look down just to make sure they were driving the right car...:D

    Inspiration is an interesting subject...indeed.

I have to say Bill did have an upper hand in finessing of the ride...Look at the lower grill area on the Rootlieb...I would definitely on the revamp come up with a more visually appealing trim. It may be just a bad angle or illusion and be some rare piece of exotic wood perfectly shaped and stained...and if so workmanship seems over the top on both.

    Pleats over Button Tuft...

Overall Both stand their own...Quite Well at that...

...Dayyuuum....What a sharp looking Machine...Its really hard to believe he let that top go...I think you might need to have two sets of Wheels with it...:D...And the pipes everywhere was a really sharp addition too...Man you have some tough decisions to make...Worst case scenario whatever you do it still rocks...;)

Wicked shock angle...good for extreme cornering...Is that a low riding compromise or long shock best fit or is this a racing normal? Thoughts?

Those are early air shocks (1981)
I’ll replace them with chrome SoCal speed shocks

Just gotta say you got lucky on the original gauges. They look perfect in the car.

First SETBACK on the 34 got the wrong steering wheel!
Thought it was an 40 ford steering column or after market one.
Anybody recognize the threads or housing has a persons name on the inside in engraved ?

Sure looks like it says Rodgers Trucking, which when Google'd comes up as a company in San Leandro, CA. Very near the original builder's home town, maybe he worked there? It's very common for chrome shops to etch the name of a customer into the pieces so they don't get lost or shuffled around during work, my guess is the column got chrome plated and that was the name of the company they put on the pieces.

Does it still have the Olds steering box in it? Does the box have a rag joint or universal joint added to it to attach the column? I'd wonder if the column shaft isn't the Oldsmobile one and just a new chromed mast jacket was added to it to make it look pretty. Would make sense if that Camaro steering wheel bolted right on with the original splined adapter, that it would be GM.

If that is indeed the case, I'm going to try to suggest that you could find a 55-56 Chevy 210 steering wheel, which should fit (if that is GM spline) and would be a match to the one in the earlier photos. A 50ish Olds wheel would also be appropriate.
