THE HISTORY OF MY 5 WINDOW part 39
Going through photo albums I came across these shots from a nostalgia drag meet at the Bairnsdale 1/8 th mile drag strip in '93.
That's Geoff Spurway' blows flathead powered '34 pickup I am racing in one of the shots. Which, interestingly Tony would own later on. However he later sold it keeping the blown flathead, which he still has.
The '34 cabriolet of the Tate brothers which also ran a couple of times at' the salt', has been totally rebuilt and will be on the street in the not to distant future.
    TO BE CONTINUED.

Speaking of Robbie, here's a shot he took of the old carport/garage around '91. Jeez I did some stuff in that old shed.

We didn't get back to 'the salt' until '93, as the '92 event was cancelled due to wet conditions. Although the condition of the salt in'93 was wet, but not so much that the event would need to be canceled.

At least this year we got a few timed runs with our race car. As well as the 5 window being able to do duty, pushing and towing the race .

Every year I had been to the salt the salt conditions were different. Which adds to the many and varied photo opportunities.

One thing was for sure, the coupe was going to require an even more thorough clean when I got home. I guess that's the price I had to pay for taking the coupe to the places I did over the years.

So the Easter long weekend was the weekend after 'the salt' and the Street Rod nationals were in Adelaide in the state of South Australia. Arriving home on the Monday I spent the next 2 1/2 days cleaning the coupe top to bottom. This included totally removing the headers and exhaust system. That salt and out back red dust gets in everywhere.

So Thursday I was back on the road again head to the nationals. I always remember a guy coming up to me at the nationals ( I can't remember his name ). He said he had been at 'the salt' the previous weekend and seen the coupe. But couldn't believe the bright and shiny coupe at the nationals was he same car. Trust me there isn't two of them. Or is there???

Mark and Paul came down from Newcastle in the state of New South Wales in Paul's 3W for 'The Picnic" in '94. They were staying a week with Graeme Blaby. I think Graeme was working during the week, so I said to Paul and Mark maybe we should go down and see Tony.

Wow it is amazing what lies in wait in old photo albums. Here's a great bunch of shots from NarranderainN'94. I think Paul took most of these shots. I reckon these images have a great feel about them.

THE HISTORY OF MY 5 WINDOW part 5,
Here's a number of shots at a local folk museum, probably around '90 / '91. Robbie was doing a photo- shoot using Graeme's tudor and coupe, along with my 5W. For an article in Australian Rodder magazine.

Really great thread, I’m enjoying the story.
I’ve only read part of page one but I’m going to continue when I’m not so tired.

Great to read the history of your hot rod and the future looks good for it too.

Thankyou Blue One. I try to keep the written content to a minimum in each post, because who wants to read a half page on each post. At the end of the day the images are of the most interest.

Not long after getting back from 'the salt' it was off to Southport on the Gold Coast in the state of Queensland for the Street Rod Nationals. With Tony Martin riding shotgun with me as usual. We got to Newcastle on the first day and stayed at Paul's place. We would be traveling from here in convoy with a bunch of the Newcastle area guys.
