I shipped my '40 from L.A. to St. Paul so that I could show it in the huge Back To The '50s show at the St Paul fairgrounds June 21-23. It was fun to show it there:

On the way home, we had mechanical problems, first with an axle bearing and later with a failed AOD transmission. This was further complicated by my having a heart attack (yes, really) in Grand Junction, CO. The car is temporarily stashed and inoperative in Grand Junction. My travel companions and I rented a car and drove home.
I need to find a car hauler that is able to move the car from CO to CA in the next few days. So far everybody with a good reputation seems to be busy, and I'm getting desperate. Anybody who has a workable solution, please drop me a message and let's discuss. Thanks in advance!

Sorry I don't have a solution for your problem, but want to wish you well, both with your health issue and getting that beautiful 4o back home, probably not a good idea to ship that with someone that doesn't have a stellar reputation though IMHO!

Beautiful car! I live in Gillette Wyoming just a few hours north of Colorado. I’d be happy to send you a quote if you can provide me a few more details. I’d be happy to send you my number and we can discuss it over the phone.

    Approximate weight of car?
When are you wanting it picked up and delivered to you?
Are you wanting it hauled in a enclosed trailer or open?
    Length and width if possible?
    Ground clearance?
What city in California is it being delivered to?

Lemme know if I can be of any more help.

do not know anything about these but, worth contacting - 1 is a transport company in Denver : denvercarshipping.com; next two are in Grand Junction and may be able to provide you with a lead for a reliable long haul service: SOLO Car Club 970-234-3304 & Route 66 Classic Cars 970-628-4926 -- hope one of these help to get your nice ride home

    Jon,
I had the car weighed, but I don't remember its exact weight. 3200-3400 pounds, I'm sure.
It's currently at the home of a Good Samaritan in Grand Junction, and he'd like it out of there. So pick up ASAP, and deliver it to Gardena, CA in reasonable travel time -- 3 days is probably sufficient.
The car is filthy, but I'd rather have it in an enclosed trailer if it's available. If not, no biggie.
Length and width are stock '40 Ford: OAL 190", OAW 68"
Ground clearance approx 4" @ grille chin
The transmission shop is in Gardena, CA, so that's its destination.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Tony

If I can line up a carrier within the next few days, I hope not to need another storage place. If it's more than a very few days, though, I'll want to move it from its present location.

YES FIRST POST HERE LOl, in fact I joined the group last night. My boss has been a longtime member, saw the post and told me to join so I could try and help. I get the apprehension tho.

  16. Giving you some credit and good vibes for coming back on here to admit that you understand our trepidation regarding a "newbie". If you don't mind mentioning your boss' screen name, it might even add more cred for you.:)...At least this is another bump for the OP.

  19. I know the cars safety is a major concern and getting it home is imperative but what about you, a heart attack is something not to take lightly, are you OK and how are you doing now? HRP

Tony, I saw this thread yesterday evening but didn't spot that it was you and your beautiful car, and just thought to myself " damn, another guy that doesn't know about the HAMB list of good car haulers!" and just kinda passed on by.
AS a member of The Old Farts Club you started and a fellow '40 owner, I feel a special kinship and hope thisd works out wel. both on your heart problems and getting your '40 home.
Not much I can do from here in GA, except to offer my thoughts, concern, and prayers.

Give this guy a call. He has hauled my cars a number of times from WA to AZ and back. He works out of AZ but hauls all over. Enclosed. Name is Mohammed 307-220-5220. No brokers. Work directly with the owner/operator.
