History what car do you miss the most?

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by birdman1, May 15, 2019.

  1. Dean, your iconic roadster pickup inspired me to build a similar one. I finally found a 28 RPU that was all original, but I couldn't bring myself to blow it apart and remake it. I finally sold it. I still love your original truck it was one of those vehicles that stuck in my mind since I was in school.

That would be my second 55 Chevy, two door post. Just got out or the army in 68, no extra bucks, no tools, no garage, etc. Dropped in a 283, 3 spd O.D. got it into the body shop in a Vo-Tec school. Bright Corvette yellow, diamond tuck interior, chromies on the rear & Fenton mags ? on the front. I would like to have it back.

image.jpg Not a car as such, but the first vehicle I ever owned. A super rare RHD Geelong Built V8 powered 1934 BB Ford Truck. Picked up from a farm about 12 miles from our farm.

  9. 64 Pontiac Gran Prix 421 tri-power 4 speed car. 18 yo kid. Blew up the 421, put in a 389, blew that up, 2nd 389, blew the clutch, towed it to the junk yard, probably got $10 for it. Now the intake and carbs would be worth 10 times what I paid for it!

Miss these 2 the most had a chance to get the vert back but passed, room and timing just didn’t work out. The Coupe is in Japan and haven’t heard or seen anything about it since it arrived in Japan at the port. 8F7D7C25-B555-42EA-8E77-8D120FE7D66B.jpeg F22DBAB1-27A9-4CDC-A12B-08DF08BAEB3A.jpeg

flamedabone I long ago put up a pic. of your 34 5 W, using it somewhat as inspiration when rebuilding my 3 W, (see my Avatar). Awesome piece my friend. I was scratching for a name for mine and thought of yours as the "invader", of which I entitled the picture. Love the equally as awesome Merc .

This thread is why I can’t sell anything!

I don’t have my first car but I have the 3rd car I ever owned, bought it between high school and university. Every few years I consider selling it but just can’t turn it loose. Too many memories both good and bad.

The car i miss the most was one of my Dad’s. OT ‘65 Mustang Fastback. I was there when Dad bought it and we spent many great evenings and weekends working on it together. Then one day it was sold, I didn’t even know it was for sale. I would have sold something of mine to buy it, but it’s not really the car but the memory’s that are important.

My T bucket....23, glass car, flat black, my first build, no pics, never ever thought to take any. 350-350, tube axle, 4 bar front and rear, rear quarter elliptics, 1700 lbs, damned fast, and very good handling, had a 73 mazda pickup steering box in it, car drove nice, but was a heat magnet, I had it on the road 5 years, got so tired of being pulled over in it I sold it in a fit of anger. I cried when it drove away, tracked it for many years, followed it to Red Deer Alberta, where it disappeared, now I can afford to buy it back, but can't find it.

Blue and white 57 Sunliner. Had a 406 with the 3 two barrels and the 4 speed to match. (Running gear out of a 62 Gal.) I was 16 and had my Dad talked into it but...............my Mother said she would divorce him if he bought it for me. I prolly woulda killed myself or "had-to-get-married" before I turned 17.

I really like what Bill wrote in his comment. Don't for get what we are dealing with. It just a hunk of Iron that we never get back all of the Love, Money, and heart burn. Family come first.
